Looking to use both the rear LAN1 and LAN2 port in parallel, I found different concepts like bonding, teaming and LAG (Link Aggregation Group). If I select a bond on a RN516 between eth0 and eth1 (LAN1 and LAN2), do I also need to setup a LAG for the two GS108T ports to which the RN is connected? What would be the best teaming mode for the bond when using RN516 with GS108T?Solved4.9KViews1like3CommentsRN516 stuck in "Booting" with 33%
Hi! I hope someone can help. I am running an RN51600 with 6 3TB harddisks in RAID 10. Since I bought the device in Feb 2016 in replacement for an NV+ everything was running fine. The device is running the latest firmware that was available 2 weeks ago. Yesterday morning the device was shut down by pre-defined time and was supposed to reboot yesterday evening. Until then, there was no indication of any problem. When I came home yesterday evening, the device was stuck at "Booting" showing 31% progress. Which at this time must already have been 3-4 hours. As the device was not responding, I tried to shut it down hard via the power button. Afterwards I tried to reboot again. Device came up, showed "Booting" and stopped at 26%. After an hour it was at 31% and this morning has reached 33%. It seems like I am in trouble. As I tried not to risk restoring all data on the drive, I am careful at what I should do next. I read that I could try to reinstall the firmware from flash via the boot menu. According to documentation this should not risk loosing the data. Any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot? RN626X Incompatible with Drives built under RN516? Swapped my RN516 drives to my RN626X (same firmware level, 6.6.1). Volume immediately marked unavailable on boot. PRIORITY support tech just openly voiced that it wasn't possible. So... No one can ever just swap drives to any of the new units!? You're supposed to build a new volume and copy the data over? Not able to connect to NAS-share on Mac OS 10.11.6
Hi, I have a really bizare issue and am really at loss ... In a small network, there's a mac mini, an iMac and a MacBook Pro, all running 10.11.6. The mini and the MacBookPro can connect to the "data" share with the user "pascal". With the iMac, I can connect to frontview, even connect to the share via http in a webbrowser with this user "pascal", but smb or afp do not work. I can connect to the IP-adres, which then shows me the share but connecting to the share always throws me an error that I cannot connect to the server ... The MacBook Pro are on the same switch and I even tried using the same cable, the results stay the same. Network settings are the same. Anyone any ideas where I need to go looking. I'm assuming Netgear will not be willing to help as this is clearly a mac related issue, but I was wondering if there would be anything visible on the NAS. TIA, Bart3.2KViews0likes8CommentsRN 516 does not expand volume automatically
I have expanded my RN 516 installing 6 disks each one of 3TB capacity. I am using X-RAID, so I was expecting automatic expansion to what I would guess would be a total of abt. 14 TB. At the moment I only get 8.17 TB available space (out of 18TB installed). What is the best way to regain the space? I plan to remove 2 disks, one at a time, let the system resync, then add them back again, one at a time. Any suggestions? Thanks3KViews0likes12CommentsRN516 & 6.4.2 update, initial report
After the 6.4.2 update I performed yesterday, I can confirm that performance has improved a bit. I had AV disabled after the 6.4.0 fiasco and haven't enabled it since, since performance is remarkably better without it. Did a disk balance and it completed in about 20 min. Share access is fast as it was in 6.4.1, and throughput is over 100MB/s over Gigabit Ethernet. I have the 516 with a XOR bonded link connected to a Cisco Gigabit Switch with port configured as a static LAG. From my MacBook Air w/Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter I'm getting over 135MB/s writes and reads. Funny thing, personal shares weren't available after the update, no-one was able to access them. After a reboot everything got back to normal. I'll report further issues should they come up.2KViews0likes2Comments
