Not able to connect to NAS-share on Mac OS 10.11.6
Hi,
I have a really bizare issue and am really at loss ...
In a small network, there's a mac mini, an iMac and a MacBook Pro, all running 10.11.6.
The mini and the MacBookPro can connect to the "data" share with the user "pascal".
With the iMac, I can connect to frontview, even connect to the share via http in a webbrowser with this user "pascal", but smb or afp do not work. I can connect to the IP-adres, which then shows me the share but connecting to the share always throws me an error that I cannot connect to the server ...
The MacBook Pro are on the same switch and I even tried using the same cable, the results stay the same.
Network settings are the same.
Anyone any ideas where I need to go looking. I'm assuming Netgear will not be willing to help as this is clearly a mac related issue, but I was wondering if there would be anything visible on the NAS.
TIA,
Bart

What ReadyNAS is having this problem, and what firmware is it running?
- bartwAspirantRn516 with 6.5.1 or 6.6.1 (did an upgrade after I detected the issue hoping it would be solved ).

Take a look at the network settings on your MAC's to confirm they are all set the same. Could be the router or DNS settings are different (or even the subnet mask if you are not using DHCP) on the machine having problems..

I'm using DHCP and I did check that netmasks, gateways, DNS are all the same.

I don't own macs, so I don't have a lot of advice to offer.
You might want to reset the file and network access on one of the shares (via the NAS web ui) and see if that helps. Turning SMB/AFP off and then on again might also be a good thing to try.
Netgear support probably could help - there are some back-end settings in the NAS that they can change. If you are the original purchaser, and purchased between 1 June 2014 and 31 May 2016 then you have free lifetime chat support. Otherwise they will charge.
