I just replaced an old Orbi with the RS100. The Orbi, and my network, were working, but the Orbi app could no longer see the router, and I wanted WiFi 7 anyhow. I set the SSID and password on the RS100 to be the same as on the Orbi, and all my latest gadgets, iPhone, iPad, watch, computer, all connected instantly. My 2.4Ghz gadgets didn't do as well. These are all IOT (bathroom scale, washing machine, printer, smoke detectors, etc) that I've had for years. I got a couple of things to work by reconfiguring them from scratch, but a couple of gadgets simply can't see the network at all. What have I done to troubleshoot? Redoing the network configuration from scratch got a couple of devices working. Disabled Smart Connect so the two networks would show separately. Didn't help. Reenabled it, and nothing broke that wasn't already broken. Tried temporarily turning off the 5Ghz network altogether, but that didn't help. Changed the 2.4Ghz security from WPA2/2PA3 to WPA/WPA2. That got one additional device to work. Rebooted everything, didn't help. Verified that I have the latest firmware. Tried contacting NETGEAR, but so far no reply. Unless someone has a better idea, the router is going to be shipped back to Amazon along with a rather negative review.31Views0likes9CommentsNetgear RS100 correct security answers not accepted
I just spent a few hours (really!) with Support to set up my router. I set up my admin password earlier in the day, so now I can't remember my password. I gave the correct answers to my security questions, but they're not being accepted. What do I do now? and of course now I can't remember all the information I was supposed to supply, so if I need to add more just let me know what I'm missing Samsung Galaxy S21 5G Model: SMG991USolved41Views1like3CommentsIs it possible to disable Ipv6?
The user manual of the RS100 only gives different IPv6 connection types to choose from, but does not mention any option to disable it. Is it also possible to completely disable ipv6, both on the LAN side and on the WAN side? If yes, how do I disable it on LAN and on WAN? Thanks.47Views0likes3CommentsProtection Engine and Stealth ports
Hello, Recently, I purchased a Nighthawk RS100 Router. After configuring it, I tested my setup using Shields Up . All my ports reported as Stealth and the router log was clean of anything serious. This week I repeated the test and noticed many of my ports are no longer Stealth, but Closed! What's strange is that which ports are Closed or Stealth seems to change randomly every time I rerun the Shields Up test : At the same time, my router's log now shows many entries of ports being scanned. I looked up the IPs scanning my ports and they're from around the world : [DoS Attack: RST Scan] from source: 160.30.156.213, port 3389, Thursday, September 25, 2025 08:57:14 [DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 160.30.156.213, port 3389, Thursday, September 25, 2025 08:57:02 Thanks to this forum, I've learned that disabling the Protection Engine will return my ports from Closed to Stealth. Side note, I suspect the Protection Engine is adaptive based on the changing test results over time. Anyway, I'd really prefer to return my ports to Stealth without disabling the Protection Engine. Has anybody discovered a method for keeping the ports Stealth while simultaneously keeping the Protection Engine enabled? Model: Nighthawk RS100 FW: V1.1.5.12. When I plug the network cable from my nbn box into the internet port, it says no internet and the light is orange. It works when I plug it into a port on my existing modem router but won’t work using the cable from the wall. Am I doing something wrong?37Views0likes2CommentsNighthawk RS300 latency
I have been using the Nighthawk RS300 for the last couple of months and I now constantly end up with dropped Teams and Zoom calls and general lag. I have realized that upload and download speeds are 30% through the RS300 than when plugged directly in to my Rogers Xfinity modem. Worse still, is that latency is dramatically worse through the RS300, with 158 down and 83 up. Are others experiencing issues with dropped calls and lag? Are there any suggestions to resolve this? I am on firmware version 1.0.1.9084Views0likes3CommentsLan Led light on.
I just installed my Netgear rs100. the ethernet and wireless are working as they should. I have 8 devices on wireless connections that are working fine. Why is the LAN LED light illuminated. It indicates there is a problem somewhere. I reconnected the Modem and Router 2 times using the cable that was provided in the box. The red light is indicating that there is a problem somewhere. Please help me get this corrected. Thank you. Bing1998137Views0likes7CommentsWindows 11 slow download speeds
Is anyone experiencing the same: I have three laptops all fully updated with the latest version of Windows 11, one is a work laptop and the other two are personal. Each windows 11 device is connected to my netgear RS100 router just fine but is experiencing severely downgraded download speeds of about 20 mbps. The interesting thing is that all my apple devices, iphones and ipads, are getting normal download service of 300+ mpbs. And, I have a desktop hard connected to the router via Lan cable getting 500+ mbps download. I have been on with my corporate helpdesk for help with work laptop and they cannot figure anything out. I have been on with Microsoft for one of my personal laptops for about 7 hours with multiple things tried and they still have not been able to improve. So I am wondering now if it is the router. Things have been great for months until now. Anyone have any ideas??110Views0likes3CommentsRS100 wifi schedule
Upgrading from an old Netgear router I would like to setup a WIFI schedule. WIth the old router it was straight forward to set times during which the Wifi was simply shut off. With the RS100 I do not find/see the option. Any idea where to find this? I sure hope it did not get removed, it being a neat feature...64Views0likes1Comment
