I have 1.24Tb of data on my NAS102 but I have been getting messages that I cannot do a Windows Backup due to insufficient space. Looking into it I find there is over 1.98Tb of Snapshots and only 298.11Gb of free space. The NAS102 has 6.5.0 Firmware and when I went online it told me to go to the "Shares" option and then click on the "Snapshot" button that is next to the "New Share" button. The only problem is that there is NO "Snapshot" button on the "Shares" page. Perhaps you can advise me how to control the frequency of snapshots and how to actually delete snapshots when there does not appear to be any way to access them. Thank you from a very frustrated netgear user. I am using Win 10 Pro 64bit, TalkTalk is my ISP and I have 56+Mb/s downstream and 18+Mb/s upstream connection speed.Solved7.4KViews0likes5CommentsManually delete snapshot of deletetd share

I'm trying to recover a single file from a snapshot on my ReadyNAS 312. The popup dialog asks me for a recovery destination without any kind of hint of what I'm supposed to put there. A full path? A relative path? What kind of format is it looking for? URI? CIFS path? UNIX path? A new full filename? I've tried every combination I can think of, and nothing seems to work. Additionally, the download link when right clicking on a file in recovery mode does nothing. I'm using IE 11.Solved4.2KViews0likes6CommentsPromoted Snapshots
I am running an RN526X with firmware 6.6.1. After a lot of help from this community I got the snapshots working correctly. My system takes a daily snapshot of all of the shares (except the Home folders). I have these set up as Smart Snapshots so the system basically handles everything itself. This has been working fine since about 1/16/17 so I now have about 15 snapshot folders in each share. It was my understanding that at the end of each week, the daily snapshots would be promoted to a single weekly snapshot (and the daily snapshots would be deleted), and then the weekly snapshots would be promoted to a monthly snapshot (and the weekly snapshots would be deleted), so that at the end of the month, you were left with only one snapshot in the folder. Below is a screen shot taken a few minutes ago of one of my Shares. As you can see, the system has started to take daily snapshots for the new month c_2017_02_01_00_00_09, but did not promote any of the January snapshots into a single folder. Am I misunderstanding how thi sis supposed to work or is there something wrong? Has anyone else gotten the snapshots to combine automatically? I really don't want to start another Snapshot thread but I've been reading many threads like this in the last two days and I'm not sure what to do. So an advanced apology since this topic has been covered many times before but I can't seem to find an answer that works for me. In the last few months I've replaced my old Ultras6s with 316s. Moved all my data. Backedup up all my data. Updated the firmware like a good citizen. Yet I am plagued with deleted snapshots that won't recover space on my systems. Both 316s (one 6x4 the other 6x3) are both approaching 3TB of snapshots that I don't need. I do need the space for data. I'm tired of reading the "You are 70% full" in my system logs and "This may affect performance. Buy bigger disks". What I've done is these commands via ssh: # touch /.force_snapshots_upgrade # systemctl restart readynasd However, I'm a ssh novice. I'm not sure what to look for or expect. How long to wait. Is this doing anything as I sit here and type this post? A few questions then: What am I looking to see happen and where? Will Netgear ever address this issue? If my backups are always current do I need snapshots? The thought of doing a factory reset to correct this makes me wanna weep. Any ideas? Hello all, I have two ReadyNAS 314 that have log entries like those below. The Productions share's snapshot schedule is set to Never but still a snapshot is created and then removed on a 2-hours basis. Every other share is also set to Never have snapshots but they are also in the logs, each with its own schedule. I don't think the snapshots are taking up storage, but their creation seems to cause performance issues. Firmware is 6.4.2 but the issue occurred on 6.4.0 and 6.4.1. Any ideas about how to address? Recently my snapshots stopped being taken. They were set to Smart / Daily. I used the "Power Timer" scheduler to turn the NAS off at midnight every night, and previously snapshots were taken at a few seconds after midnight, even though the NAS was to be powered off then. I upgraded to firmware version 6.6.1 recently, and it may be that this version is the cause of the problem. I have now scheduled the NAS to turn off at 01:00 instead and the snapshots have started being taken again. I think the firmware needs to be modified to make sure snapshots are taken regardless of when the NAS powers off. Unfortunately the firmware carried on deleting old snapshots, and by the time I had found out that no new ones were being taken, the firmware had deleted all my snapshots except for my very first manual ones. So this needs fixing please.3.7KViews1like3CommentsSnapshots not shown on Windows client, but they are physically there
Hi All, ReadyNAS 312 v6.4.1 I have snapshots enabled for many shares and they are taken - so far, so good. But on a windows share, only older snapshots are shown. This is what shows up in windows: Newer snapshots are not shown. This is my GUI-Timeline of the same share: And finally what's in the file system using MC/SSH: So what can I do to show these and future snapshots again in my SMB shares?
