I noticed all of my mobile devices have slow internet speeds.. Both up and download speeds. However my MacBook and Dell XPS both reach download speeds above 110Mbps. I even tried testing my download speed on a relative's wifi network and was able to achieve speeds above 100Mbps on the first test. I'm running dual band on my router and both are producing slow speeds. Testing results on 5G MacBook - 115.50Mbps IPhone X - 25.64Mbos IPhone 5s - 21.80 IPad 3rd Gen - 24.55 Testing results on 2G MacBook - 53.85Mbps IPhone X - 4.30Mbps IPhone 5s - 16.60Mbps IPad 3rd Gen - 4.64Mbps Is anyone else experiencing slow speeds like this on their mobile devices? I've also reset my router and network settings on my devices. At a loss here.. Any help would be highly appreciated!Solved2.4KViews1like3CommentsNetgear R7000 isn't up to speed on a gigabit connection through CM1000 modem
Hi, I recently got a Netgear CM1000 modem on my gigabit Xfinity connection. When I hook my laptop up to the modem directly I am getting close to a gigabit connection, at least above 900 Mbps consistently. But when I hook up (ethernet) through my R7000 with fully upgraded stock firmware I'm still just getting around 200 Mbps which is the speed I used to have before my connection was upgraded. What could the reason be for me not getting any speed increase when connecting through the router? As far as I can see the the router should be able to handle the speed.Solved16KViews0likes5CommentsR7800 fireware 1.0.2.20 get low speed at Network Neighborhood
I've used iOs "Netgear Genie" app to get the speed between my Win 10 laptop (with 802.11 ac) and R7800, it shows 867Mbps. But when I download files from USB storage which is plugged into R7800 USB port, the real download speed is only about 400 Mbps (showed by my Win10). Is it reasonable performance ? Besides, iPhone6 downloads files from R7800 USB storage with only about 30 Mbps, but "Netgear Genie" app shows it can reach 430 Mbps max. (both speeds were test at the same place)2.7KViews0likes1CommentNighthawk X4 AC2350 - Upload Speed Throttling Issue
Hello everyone, I was hoping to get some insight into an issue I'm having with my r7500. I have FIOS through frontier with a 75/75 plan. For a while I've been wanting to switch from the coax connection on the ONT and the old Verizon router that was provided when my roommate had the service installed years ago, and instead go to using the ethernet connection and my R7500. The house we are renting was already wired with cat5, so when we had a technician come to replace the dying backup battery on the ONT yesterday, I had him wire up the ethernet connection while he was here. I have all the PC's in the house hardwired with Cat6, but I wanted to get a 5GHz connection again for the tablets and phones that supported it, and was hoping for maybe a little performance bump as well. The install and configuration went fine up until I started running speed tests. Once my internet was confirmed working the technician left, not that he necessarily could have fixed this, but in hindsight I should have kept him around to verify the connection and speed was good. Running through Verizon's old router with coax to the ONT I consistently got 80-90Mbps both ways. With my new configuration I'm still in the normal range on the DL speed with 75-85, but my upload speed is now basically capped at 30-33Mbps. I have connected directly to the ONT in the garage with my laptop and the tests come back fine, 80-90 both directions. I connect directly to my pc in the office, and the connection is fine again. The problem only arises when I put the router in the way. I'll list my troubleshooting steps now so that maybe someone can find a flaw in what I'm doing, or can suggest a new course of action. I would love to keep this configuration since it helps out the mobile devices a lot, but beyond that, it's not really too much of a drag to go back to the old setup. I'll just deal with the psychologically added latency of thinking about my fiber getting transformed to coax, and then finally to cat5/6 before I can Juan Deag dem n00bz in CS:GO. It's mostly just bugging me that I can't figure out what's holding it up. Also, when running the same speed tests on my phone, I am consistently getting upload speeds of 40-50, or about 10/20Mbps higher, which seems strange to me. 1) The first thing I did was perform a factory reset on the router. I figured maybe I had some settings causing a problem from my old residence where I was using Cox. I tested again before changing any settings, but this had no effect. 2)QoS. Based on my research this seems to be the most likely culpret. My dynamic QoS was off by default, but i tried enabling and setting my bandwidth paramaters. Ran the test, still the same. Disabled it again, no change. I also tried disabling and enabling the WMM settings as well, no change. I then tried all of these again, this time rebooting the router each time, and no change. I tried artificially setting my QoS values high and low. I had no change regardless of how high i set them. However, I did see a change when setting my upload value low. My upload speed was limited to the QoS value until I changed it to higher than I was previously getting and then it would just continue at where it was previously capped at. ~30-35. 3)DMZ. I put my computer in the dmz to see if that would help out, but it didn't. 4)Wireless AP. I tried setting the router as a wireless AP, to see if using it in a switch or passthrough type of configuration would help, but no change. 4)Firmware. I downloaded the latest firmware from the netgear page. I confirmed I was using the most current firmware using the autoupdate function. Then factory reset and loaded the newly downloaded firmware. Factory reset again after install. No change. 5)Ran the SG TCP/IP Optimizer. Tested between windows default and optimized settings both running through the router and with a direct connection. Still good speeds running direct, same 80/30 going through the nighthawk. That's about all I've done and I'm kind've running out of ideas. Anyone have any thoughts on what the problem is or any other steps I can take? Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this! Hi. Over the past week I've noticed the 5G-2 band on my R7900 will drastically drop speed for no noticeable reason. Last week I change the broadcast channel from 149 to 161, which I thought was the source of the issue. Router did a soft reset after applying new channel setting and speeds went back to normal. Fast forward a week and the same drop in speed happened again. This time I just did a soft reset and left the channel the same. Speed went right back to normal after reset. 2.4G and 5G-1 bands are never impacted when the 5G-2 band is having these issues. I've tested the speeds with multiple devices ~1 foot away from the router. I'm using latest firmware (V1.0.1.4_10.0.12). Any suggestions to fix this issue? Thanks in advance.Solved5.9KViews0likes11CommentsWN2000RPTv2 Wifi Speed Issues
So i've had this extender (Netgear WN2000RPT v2) for some time now and never had any issues with it, moved to other homes and was able to set it up again and again with no issues. But, up until about a week ago, January 16th 2017, my internet speed when connected to my extender wasnt as fast as it usually was. I first noticed this when i was playing League of Legends on my laptop that is connected to my extender directly, my ping in game would jump up to +200 ms than my usual 45-75 ms, and would keep fluctuating and just made playing the game impossible to enjoy. I thought maybe it was just the servers for LOL, but when i tried to watch a video on youtube in 480p it would stop to buffer and it has NEVER done that before. Ive tried reseting my extender and router, checking to see if any firmware updates need to be installed, there were none. But i have had no luck with finding a soltion to this issue and im not sure what else to do. Even dissconnecting devices from my network didnt help and in some cases made my ping go even higher in game! This could very well be just League of Legends but, since i had issues with watching a video on youtube im starting to doubt that's the reason. I am open to any and all suggestions but, i think maybe the best solution is to buy a new extender all together. Thanks in advance for your help!3.5KViews0likes1CommentSlow speed suddenly on R8000
I've been using this router for about 1.5 years now. As of 2 days ago, my download speed seems capped to 7Mbps, while the upload goes up to 20Mbps. Directly through out wired connection in the wall, not using the router, I am getting 200 / 200 Mbps for down and up. What can I troubleshoot? Nothing has changed at all this week. I have tried to unplug and plug back in the router, but there is no effect. I did a hard reset and used default router settings and still get the same effect. Is there anything else to try? I can't believe that I suddenly have a broken $300 router....Solved6KViews0likes2CommentsSlow wired ethernet
Hi folks, I just upgraded from an Asus RT-AC66U to the X6 and have found the ethernet connection to be slow as dirt. My internet connection is 175Mbps down and 25 Up. My Asus consistently clocked 200 down and 30 up. My modem is an Arris SB6190. I experienced this with the Asus when I first bought it and fixed it by making sure hardware acceleration was on. I havent been able to figure out with the R8000 how to do this. The metering and QoS are off and that's what I believe should normally do the trick. Someone wrote in an older post that if you have PPoE with your provider you're SOL but I cannot imagine that as PPoE is the dominant protocol and my Asus has no issues with it. Anyone experienced the same with their switch over to this router? Hate to see it go on the obsolete hardware pile as its being outperformed by a pretty prehistoric Asus....Solved3.3KViews0likes4CommentsWNDR4300 Wireless Speed issues
I get better than 100Mbps wired directly to the router via ethernet cable. But wireless is under 20Mbps. I am direct line of site to the router, about 30 feet away. Running Win 10. No my laptop (HP Envy) is NOT able to use 5G, so does 5G really make that much of a difference? I also tried changing channels, but i didnt feel iike buying the channel analyzer app. I live in a condo with neighbors and several other wifi networks in range. Just to make sure the problem is not my heavy usage of the router I powered off all of my other devices (ipad, cell phone, music apeaker), still getting under 20Mbps. I cant upgrade the network adaptor on my laptop, so Im stuck with 2.4G. Ipad does successfully get the 5G connection, so i know the 5g works on this router, just not with my laptop. Incidentally the ipad gets 42Mbps via 5G, double what the laptop gets via 2.4G, but still less than half of what the connection is. Any ideas??SolvedV1.0.7.2_1.1.93 has more than halved my speed
Hi All, I knew I shouldn't have...... I updated the firmware. I knew it was a mistake. I'm on FTTH Yesterday it was 204 down / 20 up Today it's waivering between 45-80 down and 20 up. The difference? ------------> V1.0.7.2_1.1.93 I've treid factory reset, importing a saved config, starting a fresh set up (factory reset each time) - nothing. I cannot get about 80 mbps no matter what I try. Is this a known issue? My router is just. *JUST* outside the 90 days support......Solved6KViews0likes9Comments
