I have an Orbi system. It has a Router, 2 satellites (RBS50s) and a wall plug in satellite (RBW30). I bought a brand new Cisco IP Phone SPA525G and have it connected wireless to my Orbi network. I bought this phone specifically for it's wireless function. I am using Vonage Business and have been on the phone for days troubleshooting. I have all settings according to Vonage Business correct on the router. I have the latest firmware as V2.0.0.74 on my router and Satellites. The RBW30 has firmware V2.0.0.34 which is the latest. Here's my problem. The Cisco IP Phone loses "registration" from Vonage. It's not losing internet connection to my knowledge. The lights turn orange on my phone and according to the phone it's registration. Vonage sees it happening as well when it does. I wait for a bit or power cycle my phone and it works fine for a while. My phone is setup to static on x.x.x.12 and I have DHCP starting at x.x.x.65. I have no other IP address using x.x.x.12 on my network. What Vonage is believing to happen is that my IP Phone is switching from satellite to router to wall plug in, etc...and this is causing a disconnect from registration. They say that the phone is constantly communicating registration status and this moving of devices drops that registration. It restores itself eventually if I don't power cycle the phone, but it's causing me a problem while I'm using it. I would prefer to have the phone only use a specified satellite or router of my choosing. If I can set it up to use a specific device, then I can troubleshoot more. I do know that while I'm looking at my orbi "attached device" menu, I notice the phone jumping from satellite to router and so forth. This is when I believe it is losing it's registration. Is there anything I can try or do to have the phone use a specific device? Also, has anyone else had this problem and what do you recommend? Thanks so much. What should my settings be to improve my wifi VoIP connection (QoS settings possibly)?
Model: C6900 AC1900 Cable Modem Gateway (NOT the C7000) IP: Comcast Pro (100 mbps) I'm using the Obihai1062 VoIP phone with google voice, which is connected to the C6900 Gateway via the 5G wifi connection. Call quaility on my end is excellent (HD telephone) however callers report i'm choppy or they can't hear me from time to time. Open to suggestions on how to improve the VoIP connections. I'd perfer not to connect the phone via CAT5/7 cable to gateway if possible. I'm actually hoping to add another Obi1062 phone that connects via wifi as well. My wifi setting are still as out of the box with the exception of adding a password, changing the broadcast name and activating the guest network. I understand the QoS settings may improve the VoIP quaility. If so, what should I change? All of this is within a 600 sqft space. Current network connections include: 1x smart lighting hub (via CAT 5 to 1/4 LAN ports) 1x Sonos hub (via CAT 5 to 2/4 LAN ports) 2x iPhone (wireless via 5G) 2x cameras (wireless via 2.4) 1x iPad (wireless via 5G) 2x Sonos speakers (via wifi 2.4) 2x Smart DVD players (via wireless 2.4) 1x Smart TV (via wirless 2.4) 2x Desktop PC (wireless via 5G) 1x Printer ((wireless via 2.4G)2.6KViews0likes1CommentVoIP phone not working with R8000 Router
Hello! I purchased a R8000 router for my home network a few weeks ago. I have been using a $60 Belkin router for last couple years and thought an upgrade was in order especially since this year my wife has been working from home. She does lots of video conference and her employer (based out of state) provided a VoIP phone that is part of their network. (It is a Polycom VX400 Phone) So, it’s just like she is sitting her office there. (just dial extension numbers, boom, has her boss, etc,) Works very well. A better router seemed in order though. Well, long story short is I cannot get the phone to work with the R8000 router! The Belkin was just plug and play. Just worked. I have been on the phone with Netgear support, but no joy. I have tried DMZ I have tried Port forwarding No joy at all. Here are some symptoms. First, it partially works. That is, you can make calls to people, but just not people on the same VoIP service, AKA the people in her office. In that case, calls goes through, but no audio, either direction. Another thing noticed. If she forwards her VoiP phone, which she does when she travels, the screen on the phone shows the number it is forwarded to. BUT when it is connected to the Netgear router, and things are not working, the forwarded number does not show on the display, though the phone is indeed forwarded. Don’t know what that means. I’m pretty much at my wits end. I have gone back to the old $60 Belkin router, and occasionally fool around with ideas with the Netgear R8000. But mostly, I feel like I spent $250 and don’t know where to turn. Thanks! -CarlSolved26KViews0likes12CommentsPort Passthrough to DrayTek
Hi Guys, I may be hounded from here for the very mention of a different brand however I am in need of som knowledgable help. We have an office that has just been setup in Qatar and we were told things that didnt turn out exactly as planned. The end result is that we have the Netgear router that will not seem to let us pass through the WAN IP to the DrayTek router. What we are looking to do is allow a true DMZ as such instead of the transformed passthrough we currently get (port remapping). Anyone on here managed to do this?SRX5308 and VOIP
Current firmware: 3.0.7-24 We have a problem with VoIP, telefony works fine but status LEDs on phones do not show status (busy/free). The latest firmware 4.3.4-1 states the following in the release notes: No NAT translation of SIP headers during REGISTER, outbound call and SDP. Will this affect the functionality for our phones? Rules are allow all from inside to outside. Also, we've tested with a Linksys firewall and then i works prefect. Any ideas? Hi, I'm intersted in buying a new modem (CM600) that will allow me to prioritize my VoIP devices (a Polycom handset provided by my employer and a Verizon femtocell/network extender.) I've noticed in my current setup that voice calls occasionally get disturbed when my family is streaming Netflix. They often have 2 concurrent Netflix streams running while I'm making calls. I've tried searching, and have only briefly seen mention of "Advanced QoS" on the high-end modem. However, I'm unclear if this QoS is adjustable to suit my needs. I just want to provide the IP addresses of my two devices, and tell the modem that anything from those two devices gets prioritized. I'd appreciate a screenshot of the configuration screen, if available. I searched the Users' Guide, but didn't find anything. Hello, I have an FVS318N firewall currently running firmware 4.3.1-22, sitting behind a DSL modem running in bridge mode and for the most part everything is running well. The thing I am wondering is if it is worth it to upgrade to the 4.3.3-6 firmware for any of the updated security features. The reason I have this conundrum is I noticed in the release notes for 4.3.3-6 that it has a known issue passing SIP REGISTER messages through NAT. I also noticed this occurred in firmware version 4.3.2-7 and has not been addressed yet. I have a VoIP phone behind the FVS318N and currently don't have any issues other than an occaisional clipping of the inbound voice path. However, this is due to my ISP as we are on old copper lines with known problems. Other than that, though, the phone works well for calls. My concern is that if I upgrade to 4.3.3-6 or any other firmware from 4.3.2-7 on up that my VoIP service will suffer. Is anyone running a VoIP phone on an FVS318N running firmware 4.3.3-6 and not having issues with the REGISTER messages getting corrupted?4.3KViews0likes3Comments"Voice VLAN" alternative missing for GS724Tv3
I've just updated the firmware of a GS724Tv3 to 5.0.3.2. According to this kb document (pdf) that version should have the Voice VLAN feature, but in the menu under Switching the Voice VLAN alternative is missing. Why? In my investigations I noticed that current Boot Version for the device is 5.0.3.2 while the current Software Version is 4.1.0.9. I don't understand what that means. Is "Software Version" just another way of saying "saved secondary image of firmware that is NOT active right now"? Or is that version active in any way, for example controlling the settings UI and therefor explaines why Voice VLAN is missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Solved5.8KViews0likes4CommentsRoaming/Handoff between AC1200 and WNDAP360
We have a Wifi network in the 5GHz range with a single WNDAP360. We use the ascom I62 WLAN Phones with good results. Now we had to extend the coverage of the 5GHz network. Sine we can't place a second WNDAP360 (due to missing network cables) we descided to use a range extender AC1200 for this. This works fine, with the exception of the roaming/handoff. When a handover occurs from the AC1200 to the WNDAP360 or vice versa, then we have a 3-5 second "silence" on the phone. Most of the time it then continues to work, but sometimes the VOIP connection drops completely. What do I have as options to provide seamless roaming/handoff without gap in the audio? Would a second WNDAP360 configured as repeater improve the situation?3.8KViews0likes1Comment
