Hello, I bought an Orbi in the summer of 2017. (package 1 routeur / 1 satellite) until October 2017, I didn't have problems. But I made an update (my biggest error !) and since I have disconnections. (currently i have 2.1.2.18 firmware) I am no longer able to listen to music (Sonos) or watch Netflix. It has been 3 months now. I do not know what to do ! I understand the issue is with the Google product, If your product is not compatible with google products said it on the box. Are you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? My job is to advise people for technological products. I am not in a position to recommend you product ... I am really disappointed because I find your product really interesting and well positioned Thank you JulienOrbi updated to V2.1.2.18
My orbi has been reliable until yesterday Jan 20, 2018. FIrmware is up to date and is V2.1.2.18 on both the RBR and two RBS satellites. I don't know whats going on but my router appears to be rebooting very often. My network is no longer stable and wifi is pretty much useless. I factory reset all three devices, was able to setup Orbi like new without any issues and within 15 minutes the wifi failed again and the router appears to go missing on the network. Running a continuous ping against the three Orbi devices I see dropped packets pretty often along with the router going missing followed by the satellites. When the router reappears the satellites will reconnect and function until the next time the router spontaneously reboots. Ugh, this used to work... been using Orbi for just over three months... apparently I am not alone.... What's the fix roll back to a specific version? If so which one? Frustrated in MD, looking for help.Orbi wifi disconnects/crashes caused by Google Home and Chromecasts OFFICIAL
Google has officially acknowledged this issue of wifi networks getting killed by way too frequent MDNS packets being sent from their devices that crash various routers. I will say that I switched to a Linksys after starting to have issues with Orbi late November, and have not had any more issues. I suppose the robustness of the router to handle such traffic comes into play. Hmm latest firmware seems broken - The switches to turn on/off the different radios e.g. 2.4 or 5Ghz have dissapeared. Now having all sorts of disconnect issues due to 2.4Ghz being on. My Setup was working well with 2.4 off now I cannot tunr it offRBK50 is a downgrade from my Nighthawk R7000 for me
Firstly, I've glanced through some of the threads here and didn't find an exact match for my issue. I am replacing my Nighthawk R7000 due to some deadspots around the 2-level house. My wifi doorbell has a weak signal, and so do the devices in my family room (Xbox, Shield TV, etc) I also have various Amazon Echos, wifi thermostats, wifi cameras, and a Google Home. I followed the simple instructions to setup the new RBK50, and everything went well. It found a new firmware and installed it. But my signal to most of these devices is poor. The hard-wired connection is normal, but wifi signal is poor overall compared to my R7000. My Google Home takes 30 seconds to respond compared to when it was connected to my old router's wifi. My Androud TV is buffering, and my Echo dots all say they either can't connect or very slow to respond (usually caused by a poor signal). WIll I be spending hours or days troubleshooting this or should NEW users be doing somehting like a factory reset? This can't be normal, for such an expensive system. Any suggestions for a new user BEFORE I start digging in to the forums and pulling my hair out?SolvedContent loading issues over WiFi for Orbi RBR50
Details of devices connected to Orbi: Netgear CM1000 modem supplying the connection Desktop PC hardwired running Windows 10 most recent update Macbook Air (Mid 2013) running latest MacOS Chromecast 2 Android tablets running Nougat 1 iPhone 6 (iOS 10.3.1) 1 iPhone 6s (iOS 10.3.1) I bought the router a RBR50 on 7MAY17 and it was updated to the latest firmware right away (1.9.1.12). I initially set up the router using default settings. All my devices connected with no issues. Speeds were not an issue. However, upon attempting to load content over WiFi on both iOS devices content would not load tried various apps with the same result. It showed network activity but no content was loading. I switched off WiFi and retested over LTE and experienced no issues. I began attempting various fixes. Rebooted router numerous time (no resolution) Renewed and released leases on devices (no resolution) Tried various wireless channels on both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands (no resolution) Tried various power levels (no resolution) Disabled Beamforming (no resolution) Disabled MU-MIMO (no resolution) Disconnected my Orbi and reconnected my previous wireless router a D-Link 850L and the issue was resolved. I want to like this router because of the good range and extremely good speeds but having to jump through all these hoops to get functionality is extremely tedious and disappointing due to the price. I hope this can be resolved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved
