Hi, I’m having trouble with my orbi router with online gaming over WiFi. For the rest it works extremely well with high speed (400 down 40 up) and very low pings (10ms), all on WiFi. However with online gaming I got ping spikes and packet loss which makes it impossible to game online over WiFi. Over Ethernet it works great so it’s not my ISP that is the issue. How can I solve the spikes? There is not QoS option available in the routers interface. I have tried switching the satellite off but the problem remains. Hope somebody can help! Thanks ChristiaanAndroid/2.4-5 GHz switching potential fix
Good afternoon! For those having problems with Android/5 GHz devices dropping the wifi and picking it back up immediately, I have found a temporary solution. The problem with the LG G5 and Pixel was that it was switching between 2.4 and 5 GHz connections regularly. On the Orbi, you cannot separate the SSID's for each frequency so I just disabled the SSID on the 2.4 GHz network. I then chose "forget network" and reconnect my 5 GHz capable devices to the only SSID showing which was 5 GHz. All devices connected to 2.4 GHz stayed connected and the loss of signal quit happening. I suspect that the 2.4 seemed to be slightly stronger between walls so the strongest signal would vary between 2.4 and 5 GHz. Here is my configuration below. So far it has been up and running with no dropping or Orbi restarts for 18 hours. Firmware: 2.1.2 10 BetaAre you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? ( ORBI disconnections)
Hello, I bought an Orbi in the summer of 2017. (package 1 routeur / 1 satellite) until October 2017, I didn't have problems. But I made an update (my biggest error !) and since I have disconnections. (currently i have 2.1.2.18 firmware) I am no longer able to listen to music (Sonos) or watch Netflix. It has been 3 months now. I do not know what to do ! I understand the issue is with the Google product, If your product is not compatible with google products said it on the box. Are you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? My job is to advise people for technological products. I am not in a position to recommend you product ... I am really disappointed because I find your product really interesting and well positioned Thank you JulienOrbi updated to V2.1.2.18
My orbi has been reliable until yesterday Jan 20, 2018. FIrmware is up to date and is V2.1.2.18 on both the RBR and two RBS satellites. I don't know whats going on but my router appears to be rebooting very often. My network is no longer stable and wifi is pretty much useless. I factory reset all three devices, was able to setup Orbi like new without any issues and within 15 minutes the wifi failed again and the router appears to go missing on the network. Running a continuous ping against the three Orbi devices I see dropped packets pretty often along with the router going missing followed by the satellites. When the router reappears the satellites will reconnect and function until the next time the router spontaneously reboots. Ugh, this used to work... been using Orbi for just over three months... apparently I am not alone.... What's the fix roll back to a specific version? If so which one? Frustrated in MD, looking for help.Orbi wifi disconnects/crashes caused by Google Home and Chromecasts OFFICIAL
Google has officially acknowledged this issue of wifi networks getting killed by way too frequent MDNS packets being sent from their devices that crash various routers. I will say that I switched to a Linksys after starting to have issues with Orbi late November, and have not had any more issues. I suppose the robustness of the router to handle such traffic comes into play. Google acknowledges wifi issues caused by Home and Cast devices.Android phone LG V20 after update to Android version 7 (V10Q-HKG-XX) cannot show available WIFI
Bought Orbi yesterday, function very well for ALL my devices (labtops both Win10 and MacOS, handheld devices both Android and IOS). Latter, LG V20 android autoupdated to V10Q-HKG-XX. Afterward, LG V20 cannot even show the available WIFI signal, while my other 3 android devices (ALL are LG phones) function well (can connect to new Orbi). When the V20 is placed outside the range of Orib, the devices's WIFI function works normally i.e. can search and connect to other WIFI signal. In other words, the updated V20, when placed under the coverage of new Orbi, the WIFI literately "stuck" and turn "black screen" until I turn V20 WIFI function off. Can't roll back the V20 update. Asking for solution to reconnect my V20 to Orbi.SolvedOrbi and Neato Botvac Connected
I just replaced my pair of Airport Extremes with a new Orbi setup (one base/router and one wall plug satellite). I updated to the latest firmware during the setup. With one exception, everything works: iphone, ipad, macbook, windows laptop, appletv, wemo's, epson printer, tv, roku. The exception is my Neato Botvac Connected. Wifi setup on the Neato is much like a Wemo or a Fitbit scale... you connect to the device's internal wifi, have it scan for local SSIDs, choose your SSID and password, then it connects to your wifi. But the Botvac never connects. I've gone through all the basic and advanced steps; I've rebooted and reset; I've done it all. I've also opened a support request with Neato, but haven't seen a reply. What gets me is it worked just fine with the old Airport Extreme network, but refuses to work with the Orbi's. When it fails, the Neato app links out to a support doc referring to ports 80/443 being blocked. My experience is they're only blocked inbound, not outbound. And again... it works with the AE's with no special setup. I went so far as to do a MAC reservation to guarantee the Neato's IP, then added a rule to forward ports 80 and 443 to that IP and retried. It failed with the exact same error. So with everything but the Neato working and with no response from Neato support, I'm wondering if any other Orbi users have a working Neato Botvac Connected? If so, what did you do to get it working? I do have beamforming and MU-MIMO enabled. I've seen notes about those disconnecting older devices like Ring doorbells. But in this case, the Botvac cannot connect at all... its not connecting and then disconnecting. Wondering if I need to disable beamforming and mu-mimo? Last thing, the Neato has the latest firmware installed.iphone7 not connection to Orbi
Recently, my iPhone7 will not connect or stay connected to my Orbi wifi. It will show that it's connected under the phone's wifi menu w/ full bars, but the top of the home screen only shows "LTE", no wifi bars/symbol. Every other iOS device in my house, including my wife's iPhone7 works flawlessly. I have reset my phone, reset my phone's network settings. Toggled beamforming/mu-mimo on/off, reset the orbi, reset my Spectrum router. All with no luck. In some instances after a reset, the phone WILL connect to wifi. Then a few minutes later drop the connection and will NOT reconnect. It will show connected, but again displaying "LTE" and no wifi bars. Other times it will not connect at all. My orbi also has the current firmware. I am stumped. Currently, I'm at work and my iphone7 connectes to my work wifi with no issues.Self-Assigned IP Address
On both my iPhone and MacBook I get a No Internet Connection error. Most of my Orbi settings are on the defaults. Most of the time when it happens it will eventually start working on its own afte a few mins. I know the Satelitte itself has an internet connection becuase the cameras that are on them record all the footage fine and there are no gaps. Anyone have an ideas why this happens. I end up getting a Self-Assigned IP Address (169.254.157.242) and nothing works for a few minutes or so. I tried setting a static IP address, it will work for most part but then eventually get the No Internet Connection error. ThanksSolved
