I am quite frustrated at this point. I had a CM600 modem to support Comcast's Extreme 150 service. I've had it for a few years and was consistently getting 160 to 170mbps speed from it. About three weeks ago, I noticed a drop off and did a speed test and could not get more than 50mbps. Comcast reset the modem (I did the same thing). No change. They sent a tech out to the house and he swapped out my modem for one of theirs and lo and behold, 170mbps. He said I needed a new modem. I was a little suspicious of this, but wanting to eventually get gigabit service when it becomes available, I bought a CM1000. It provisioned fine, but I am seeing the same behavior. At the start of the speed test it spikes to over 100 but eventually averages out to 70 or 80. They came out again and re-trenched a new thicker line between the street and the house. Still the same behavior. The tech came out again today and installed a dedicated line directly from the outside box to the modem. Still the same behavior. The logs from the Modem are consistently showing: Time Priority Description 2017-12-03, 10:41:31 Notice (6) CM-STATUS message sent. Hello all In November I saw that Comcast offered a higher tier internet service in my neighborhood. Speeds are advertised up to 986 Mbps. Since I signed up I’ve only seen 350-400 Mbps. I had a couple of online chats and phone calls with Comcast. I also had two techs come to the house to check the signal to the house. The second tech said that Comcast had to approve new firmware for my CM1000 modem (this was in December). He said that once Comcast approved the firmware then Netgear would push the upgrade to my modem directly. I called to try to get credit for billing since I wasn’t getting the correct speeds and I was forced to chat with Comcast tech support again. The tech sent me a link to the Nighthawk X6 router firmware page to update my CM1000 cable modem :| When I told them it was the wrong equipment they told me to contact Netgear directly to receive my firmware update. I sent this link to him. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/CM1000#download It says “Current Versions Firmware upgrades are pushed down by your ISP. For more information, please see our Knowledge Base .” He just told me to talk to Netgear :| Has anyone had any success getting advertised speeds with Comcast Gigabit Internet? Hello, i have Comcast Blast Internet 150MB. My setup is a Netgear N600 Modem/Router with wifi disabled and my Nighthawk R8000 plugged into that. My direct connect wired connection to the N600 gets 180 down, wireless on the Nighthawk is 23-25 down. I have changed channels and used multiple devices (computer, ipad, galaxy, iphone, and xbox) and get the same results. Any suggestions to get the speeds I know this router is capable of?Solved12KViews1like11CommentsAdvantages/Disadvantages to using Orbi RBK50 pair as Wireless Access Points
I use an xFinity wireless router/modem for internet, wireless and VOIP. I understand that I could use the Orbi RBK50 units as access two wireless access points for this router, but am wanting to know what the advantages and disadvantages are of this and whether I would possibly be better off disabling the xFinity wifi and just going with the 2 Orbi's. I realize that going the access point route would potentially give me more coverage (3 wireless signal senders instead of 2) but wonder if I would be losing out on some functions or features by doing this. Thanks in advance.Problem using Orbi (RBK50) with Xfinity (Comcast) modem/router
Orbi was working fine with my comcast/xfinity service until this weekend. (Comcast modem/router was in bridge mode per instructions.) This weekend my internet service started acting up intermittently and yesterday it wasn't working at all. Tried power recycle several times, confirmed Xfinity modem was in bridge mode, had comcast cust service send modem reset, all to no avail. The Orbi was connecting to satellite and creating local network, but the web control panel (orbilogin.com) said no internet connection. Tried the troubleshooting through the web control panel but never succeeded. Spent over an hour working the issue with Comcast customer service and nothing was working - finally had them reset the cable modem/router to normal mode (not bridge mode) and gave up on the Orbi (powered them down). (In normal mode, the internet service is working and the WiFi coverage works in my house, but it is back to the pre-Orbi coverage and speed, so not as good.) Can anybody help??? Does this sound like a hardware problem with the Orbi? Other ideas/troubleshooting? I've exhausted my ideas as well as anything Comcast could do to help...R7000 Speed issues
Good Afternoon, I have noticed that over ther past month my WiFi has been dropping and the speed is not what it should be. I have Xfinity 75/10 speed. When I checekied today I was getting between 3-18 downlaod speed. The odd part is that upload is always 12. I reset everything and it did not improve. I thought a firmware update would be the best choice. I was unable to do an automatic update. The online portal kept telling that it could not connect to the netgear servers. I downloaded the file from netgear and I am now on Firmware Version V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 I still have the same issues hardwired to the router or via WiFI. Direct connected to my modem I get 80 d/l speed. Are there any setting in the advanced section that I can changed to pass through the full speed? Thank You JamesSolved5.3KViews0likes15CommentsNighthawk Extender and Xfinity Router
We purchased a Nighthawk Extender to extend our signal right outside our 2000 SF home. We have high speed Xfinity Comcast Cable used with their router/modem. We set up the Nighthawk as required, near the router, and synced it with the WPS on the router also as required. Both the 2G and 5G networks were created also as required. Both the router and the Nighthawk are located in the center of the home and equidistant to the exterior. The Nighthawk LED is all showing the green LED connection. However, there is no affect on the signal --it doesn't appear to be extended at all, certainly not to the outside. We have tried everything and are completely frustrated. Can anyone help and let us know what step we are missing? Or if the Nighthawk devices simply do not work?5.2KViews0likes2CommentsNighthawk and Xfinity Modem- No Internet?
I just got a Nighthawk X6S AC4000 router to replace my aging Apple Airport Extreme network, Modem has been set correclty to bridge mode and the radio deactivated, and the Extreme has been our wifi router with some devices directly wired to it as well. I tried to replace the AE with the Nighthawk, but the router would not relay the internet signal. Devices coould connect to the Nighthawk via WiFi and I had one computer wired in with ethernet as well. No internet access either way. The internet light on the Nighhawk is white and stable, indicating successful internet connection, but it is not being passed on to any connected devices. I was able to directly plug a laptio into the modem and got internet instanly, so the modem is working fine. I was also able to reconnect the AE network and that router does fine. I tried rebooting both the rouer and the modem severla times in different order. Sam issue. Cannot figure out what the problem.Solved5.1KViews0likes3CommentsFVS336gv2 not connectiong with xfinity
Ok, so I have an Xfinity account and a small home network behind an FVS316G firewall. Everything seems to be OK at the moment. However, Xfinity just upgraded me to a much faster connection (over 100 Mbps), and I noticed that I can only get 16 Mbps through the firewall. So, I got myself an FVS336Gv2 firewall, hoping that I can increase the speed, as it is rated higher. But it does not seem to be wilig to connect to the ISP. On the existing firewall, the connection is set to have no login, and everything is dynamic. It connects. Then I hook up the FVS336, set it up the same way, and it does not connect. I do see that the working firewall defaults to PPoE when I select "no login" while the FVS336 defaults to "PPTP (Austria)". Is that possibly the reason, and how do I change it? Also, what firewall throughput can I expect if I get this running? I saw some people who said they could not get more than 60 Mbps. That would be a 4 fold increase for me, but still below the speed the ISP provides.3.9KViews0likes10Comments
