New Orbi firmware 2.1.2.18 update issues?
I noticed that there was a new firmware version 2.1.2.18 for Orbi RBK50. Has anyone installed this version, and has there been any issues after the installation. Please provide any details that you may have.
Thanks,
Dave

So far so good. After updating manually, the satellite reported a "poor" backhaul connection even though it was in the precise same location as before where I got a "good". I rebooted the satellite and the second time worked like a charm. So far so good - but I've been stable and fine since the first 2.1.2 beta. All apples, no google/android.
thanks for the input. if you would be so kind to post anything you encounter, I would appreciate it or shoot me a PM.
Thanks!

So this morning I woke up to my Internet not working. I found my Orbi had auto-updated to firmware 2.1.2.18. I use Orbi in Router mode, as my DHCP server. After rebooting my modem & Orbi router, the WiFi came back up and I could connect to the Internet - however my wired devices can't get an IP address from the Orbi and they won't connect to the Internet. I don't know if this is in fact related to the 2.1.2.18 firmware, but the timing does imply these are related. I'm still messing with settings, trying to get my wired devices working again, so far no luck.
Sateliite installed the .18 update -no problems.
Main router crashed after .18 update and only white ring is solid and light up.
Have tried holding reset down for 7 seconds. Nothing.
any suggestions.

Updated to the new firmware about an hour ago.
Attached devices all reporting ok except for Ring (reporps connection type unknown). It now seems to take a bit of time for the attached devices to populate. Sat. reported as not connected but about 12 seconds later it reported good. This was not the case with the prior beta 211 software which populated the devices instantaneously and correctly. Will monitor.
For some reason, the satelite firmware V2.1.2.18 manual upload keeps saying the file is incorrect and will not upload! The Online update shows Update failed. Any suggestions?
I had this when I was mixing my router and sat images. try downloading again and make sure you are uploading the right image.

Did a power cycle on both the router and the sat along with 3 refreshes, Attached devices are now reporting correctly. Will monitor.

Same for me on Ring but a power cycle on Router + Sat took care of that. Needed to wait about 5 minutes for things to update on the connections.
Still getting disconnects where the orbi even disappears from the available WiFi connections altogether.
Anyone know what the last stable version was? I’ve resigned myself to having to do a manual roll back and stop automatic updates.
I tried connecting back my Chromecasts and Google Homes but they still keep flooding the network. The result is that the sats disconnect. Looks like we need Google to fix that part of the problem.
Google stuff needs IP v6 . Make sure IP v6 is enabled.

Been on 2.1.2.10 for around 2 week san no issues until about 24 hours ago and constant drops again. Thought this beta had sirted things.
Have updated to the new .18 and crossing my fingers.
Google's fix is supposed to be released tomorrow, 1/18.

Indeed, same problem here, satellites are going down several times a day (I have google home, android 8, google chromecast, ...)
- BlcklabApprenticeI've been running 1.11.0.20 to overcome all the stability issues of .74 through the beta. Zero issues on .20
I thought what the heck this morning I will update to the new version. Shortly after updating I had a reboot. Upon reboot the satellite have difficulty connecting and some of my devices would not automatically reconnect. I don't know if it was a problem with IP addresses.
I power cycle my modem and switch and reset my router and satellite that to .20 and everything is fine again.
I'm considering trying this version out again but with a full power cycle and setting up my network again.
However it really shouldn't have to work this way. This update is worse than ever. Updated 3 hours ago... satallite doesn't connect to Router. All my wifi connect failed. I need to keep rebooting the router and it only last for an hour. WTF? I was hoping you guy resolve the problem where I need to factory reset my **bleep** every week now I need to do it more frequent.

Took v2.1.2.18 a few hrs ago did factory reset, nvram clear now sattalite does not show as connected sattalite but as attached as a device to the main Orbi unit! Yes I rebooted both several times as well anyone else seeing this? a devices show connected to main unit as well so nothing fixed for me.

After switcihing off daisy chain 1 of my nearby satellites still only connecting on 2.4
- DaraghGuideI have the exact same issue, works fine for 2 to 3 hours then looses internet connectivity and all devices loose WiFi, not isp as can hardwire to the modem and all is good. Need to reboot orbi router and satellites several times to get things back but cycle strts again in a few hours not exactly periodic but it is very unstable.
This update has been solid for me so far. Thanks Netgear for your hard work. Keep the updates coming.

I’m 2 days and 19 in to using this latest firmware. So far, no reboots. I do have an Android phone (7.0) and also a chrome cast. I’ve kept the chrome cast turned off since it’s a known, unfixed problem. So far, seems pretty solid. Main complaint is it seems to be very biased toward using the Router vs satellite. I have a satellite maybe 6 feet from my wireless thermostat and it still connects to the router that is upstairs and across the house.

Yeah… I do have the same issue. A couple of my 2.4Ghz clients connect from upstairs to my router on the groundfloor, instead of the satellite upstairs. I am think about further reducing the 2.4GHz radio power… Currently, I do have both radios on both devices set to 50%, maybe tweaking them to 25% will mitigate this behaviour.

Installed earlier this afternoon, and still no issues thus far - everything working very well.
I did not do a factory reset this time around - I just installed it over the prev version (2.1.1.16) via the firmware update option in the GUI - that went smoothly. All precvious settings were maintained, and all of my varrious devices have now settled down on the device (router vs sat) and network (2.4 vs 5) that I want each one to be on.
So far so good!

I've been running beta 2.1.2.16 for the past week and a half and it has been stable for me. This release seems to be just the release version of the not very public beta so I think it should be OK. It doesn't fix the google device issue but that will resolve itself soon enough even if netgear does nothing as google is providing fixes now.
