connecting aircard 810s to aircard cradle

When i plug my aircard 810s into the aircard cradle it says "wifi hotspot inactive while using wifi dock" as soon as i take it out of the dock it works fine. Any idea how to get it working while on the dock?

    Hello ben1989

What the model of the dock that you are using?

  • Hey Ben. The way this works is that when you seperate the WiFi hotspot from the cradle, it acts independently. When you plug it into the cradle, it will cease as a "hotspot" and merge with the cradle so as to act as a router. This is perfectly normal operation for this unit.

In order to get the cradle working as a rounter, you should try to access the web-interface by opening a browser (eg. Chrome) and put this into the address bar: http://m.home/index.html

This will bring up the "Genie" interface by which you can control hte hotspot or the cradle as you wish. There is a hyperlink in the left bottom side of this page that says"Smart Cradle Manage". Click on this to see the Cradle settings. If you do not click on this, you will only be seing the hotspot settings (that is on the first page you get when you enter the http://m.home/index.html into the browser.

Have a dig around and hope this helps. :smileyvery-happy:

  • I have a new aircard DC112A cradle and a new aircard 810S. I can get the 810s to work standalone for internet access but when I plug it into the cradle the indicator light on the cradle for internet connection does not light and there is no indication on the 810s that it is now working via the cradle. Can anyone assist please with the most likely reasons for this? I have scoured the internet, user guides, the Youtube video by Netgear Australia and in the end even tried the Netgear support phone line but gave up after a long wait. Thanks.

      Hello Tony-M

I would first tryt to factory reset the DC112A and then go threw the setup again to see if it will merge with the aircard. Also check the internet setup page in the settings it has options for Internet source make sure the option to use the mobile broadband is selected.

I have exactly this issue, even just from the base config, upgraded the firmware no fix. When I plug in the 810S it does not recognise it's docked and what is interesting is the external aerial I have via the TS9 seems to still improve the signal, but overall the performance of the 810S is terrible when docked, unplug and it works,

    Hi ben1989,

When you dock your AC810S into the Smart Cradle it will disable the WiFi on the AC810S automatically.  This is normal operation.  The Smart Cradle is a router and if you have a look at the label underneath the Smart Cradle you will notice there is an SSID and Passphrase printed.  Use this to connect to the Smart Cradle over WiFi whilst the AC810S is docked and when you undock you will just need to manually switch back to the AC810S SSID.

    Kind Regards,
