Access control to network with Netgear GS108E
Hello, My setup is: Internet > Modem/router with wifi access> GS108Ev3 switch > NAS, computers, other devices. Would it be possible to configure the switch in such a way that certain devices...

Hi Peter_Com,
Welcome to the community! :)
For wired connection within the GS108Ev3 switch > NAS only, it is possible to restrict guest access as long as VLAN is supported on your NAS. Does your NAS supports VLAN?
However, considering you current network setup as a whole (Internet > Modem/Router with WiFi access > GS108Ev3 swith > NAS), I'm afraid that it is not possible to achieve your goal.

Hello DaneA,
Thanks for your reaction. My NAS supports VLAN (802.1Q). But I understand that it will not solve by problem to discrimate among devices that wifi connect via my router, right? With an additional access point connected to the switch it would be possible?
Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter_Com,
Here is the network setup that I recommend to you if you want to restrict access on your NAS:

From the sample image above, the modem is just a modem-only device connected to the WAN port of the firewall router which is the FVS336Gv3. You will need to configure 2 VLANs on the firewall router (for example: VLAN 09 as the Admin VLAN and VLAN 18 as the Guest VLAN). Port 1 of the FVS336Gv3 is connected to port 1 of the GS108Ev3. You will also need to configure 2 VLANs on the GS108Ev3 switch (for example: VLAN 09 as the Admin VLAN and VLAN 18 as the Guest VLAN).
Port 3 of the GS108Ev3 is connected to the WNDAP360 Access Point. On the WNDAP360 Access Point, you will need to configure two wireless networks, one for each VLAN. Port 7 of the GS108Ev3 is connected to the NAS. Ports 1, 3 and 7 of the GS108Ev3 should be a members of both VLANs set as tagged with a PVID of 1.
Port 2 of the GS108Ev3 is connected to the desktop. Port 2 of the GS108Ev3 should be a member of the Admin VLAN set as untagged with a PVID of 09. Port 2 of the GS108Ev3 is set to untagged because the desktop is not a VLAN-aware device.
With the network setup given above, you will be able to restrict access to your NAS by using VLANs.
