Basic configuration GS110TP for dummies...

Hello,

I put a gs110tp in my network. The goal is to limit one port to internet access only. That port is connected to a wireless access point in an other house for tourists.

I do not want them to see my private network on the other ports.

As I have no idea on how to set this certainly easy configuration I hope somedy will help.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards from Belgium.

Note: I am a beginner in network configuration as you can understand with my question.

  • Hi jlomo,

    Welcome to the community! :)

You will need to configure 2 VLANs.   One VLAN for your private network and another VLAN for the tourists network.  Kindly read the article below as reference guide:

Multiple VLAN Configuration Between NETGEAR Firewalls and Switches

Does the access point supports VLAN?  What is the brand and model of that access point?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

It seems easy to follow your guide.

The access point I am using is a Linksys WAP300N, but I also have a Netgear WPN802 v2. I think none of them are vlan compatible !

After having checked for other possible solutions I found a more professional approach using a hot spot from Intellinet, model GuestGate MKII. Before buying a Vlan compatible access point I will test the hot spot.

Thank you again and best regards.
