GS110TP - PoE not working

Hello Community,

I'm having problems while trying to get PoE working.

I'm trying to power two IP cameras compatible with 802.3af

Configuration:

- GS110TP reset to factory settings, then updated to last FW version (5.4.2.30)

- IP cameras connected with CAT6 cables, which are 100% working (tested with other devices)

- Green Ethernet disabled

Results:

- Both cameras has Link Status = Down and are not powered at all

- In System->PoE->PoE Configuration, "Power Status" = On, but both "Nominal Power" and "Threshold Power" = 0 Watts

- In System->PoE->PoE Port Configuration, "Admin Mode" = Enable for both Ports (g1 and g2), "Status" appears to be Disabled

- All ports are working fine with devices that don't need PoE

Notes

- Unless I'm missing something, Nominal Power and Threshold Power should be greater than 0, and related to the "global" available power for PoE feature.

- I've tried to change Detection Mode, but I receive always an error

- If Admin Mode is set to Disable, I can't set it back to Enable unless device is reset to Factory Settings (tryed with port g3)

I hope you can help me to understand if I did something wrong (or if there is some additional configuration needed), or if my device is not working as intended.

Thank you very much!

  • Hi MarcoDG,

    Welcome to our community!

As per checking in here that you do have two IP cameras that isn't working with the POE. Normally, switches doesn't need anything to power up a POE device, unless they are incompatible and doesn't have the same protocol. May I know what is the camera that you are using? What model? At first, you may just try to reset it first to factory default and just plug in the IP camera and see if that will work. Try all the ports just to isolate the issue.

      Hi JohnCarloV,
I'm sorry about not providing a feedback, I wasn't at home to test it.
However it seems that only port 4 is able to provide poe, while port 3 emits an audible electrical noise. I'm going to return this unit to the reseller.
Thank you very much for your help!

      Regards,
      Marco

        MarcoDG,

Just in case that your reseller won't replace it. You may open a chat / case online on NETGEAR support and please let them know the status of your switch so that we can replace it. I encourage you to mark the appropriate reply as the “Accepted Solution” so others can be confident in benefiting from the solution. The NETGEAR Community looks forward to hearing from you and being a helpful resource in the future!
