    Hello MichaeleBlack,

    Welcome to the community!

We have only three SFP models that are guaranteed to work with the M4100 series (AFM735, AGM731F and AGM732F). I have seen some brands claim to have also been compatible like Add-On and Extreme Networks', I believe as long as they have the same standards they should work. Still, I would suggested the out SFP modules over the others.

I hope this helps, let us know.

    Thanks,

Thanks - my problem is that I have only one single mode fiber strand available from the MDF out to 6 different locations, so I need a BIDI SFP to accomplish this connection.  My plan is to use the M4100-12GF at the MDF and GS110TP at each of the six IDF locations using the BIDI SFPs for connection.

The M4100 and other fully managed switches from Netgear so far have been very tolerant on SFP(+) compatibility for what I can tell. I've used various unbranded and other-vendor-branded modules in them without any issues. This allows actually installing modules a switch vendor might not offer you such as different wavelengths or BiDi as you need.

I'd recommend you to get a pair of unbranded (plain MSA standard) BiDi optics and test them out, the gigabit ones aren't very expensive these days.

I've had quite some success with optics from a certain Germany-based company and so does a local ISP here who extensively uses their BiDi optics as well.

Fine print: Remember that in some cases the vendor (in this case Netgear) can ask you to swap third-party optics first if you run into issues before they help you.
