GSM7224v2 crashing
I've got a number of GSM7224v2 switches that just recently started occasionally crashing and restarting. These are running older firmware. Does anyone know if the most recent firmware updates for them fixed any crashing issues?
Also, is there some way to log information for these crashes?
Thanks for any help!

Hi
If you say that your GSM7224v2's are running "older firmware" (but don't say which versions exactly) you have to consider that this managed switch runs up to firmware 8.0.1.36. The version number itself is not the most important part, however when you download the latest firmware for this model you can see from the date codes of the files in the archive are from 2012. So even the latest firmware for this model is likely almost 8 years old.
You could possibly configure a syslog server to log message that the switches may have been able to send off to a remote logserver before crashing. Or you could check out if you can copy either via USB or remotely via TFTP what is is in nvram:errorlog and nvram:log. (Check out the CLI guide for your model in the copy command section).
For comparison: The also aging M4100's ran on 9.x initially and are now on a 10.x code base while the current M4300's run on 12.x. The M4300 would have crashlog-related commands but your version seems to be missing such commands. At that point updating to the latest version available wouldn't be a bad thing in my oppinion anyway. But if I were in your situation (and some budget was available) I'd consider planning on a replacement soon-ish considering their age and firmware base.

That is probably very sound advice. Would the M4300 be the most logical model to replace with? Or do you have recommendations of other models?
Thanks!

Hmm, looking at the M4300 that doesn't look like what I'd need. I need an equivalent 24 port gigabit managed switch to the GSM7224v2. Any reason not to go with one of the Smart Managed Pro models, such as the GS324T? Thanks again!
