M4300 - M4100 and GVRP

I have a couple of M4300 switches acting as a new core stack, and using M4100 as distribution switches. Instead of manually configuring VLANs on all of the M4100 switches, I figured I'd use the GVRP feature. This seems to work, the VLANS on the M4300 get propagated to the M4100 (on port 11 & 12 of the M4100, what defines this?).

Then I want to assign a dynamic VLAN to a certain port on the M4100, for example, VLAN 1025. I select the access port 0/2, set access and native VLAN to 1025 and I get the error "Could not configure VLAN ID". I tried setting the PVID first, but that gives the error "Failed to set configured PVID with 1027". When using the VLAN membership page, and setting the port untagged, I get this error: "Failed to set VLAN membership for VLAN ( 1027 )".

What am I doing wrong here? I thought GVRP would make my life easier, but for now this isn't really working.

  • Hi pieterjanheyse,

Kindly try to set the VLAN Type from Dynamic to Static then try to modify the settings you prefer.  Check if it helps.
