M4300-16X Port Mirroring
So I have a single M4300-16X that I'm trying to configure for traffic analysis. Looking at the CLI documentation, it appears straightforward enough. The current config is nothing special. Default VLAN 1 and whatnot.
Below is the outcome when I tried to mirror VLAN 1 traffic over to the available port 15 on the switch. Any ideas as to why this wouldn't work? Port 15 is a member of the default VLAN 1 and that's it.
User:admin Password:************** (M4300-16X) >enable (M4300-16X) #config (M4300-16X) (Config)#monitor session 1 mode (M4300-16X) (Config)#monitor session 1 source vlan 1 (M4300-16X) (Config)#monitor session 1 destination interface 1/0/15 Failed to configure the mirroring session. Please refer system log for more information. (M4300-16X) (Config)#

...anyone???
The one caveat I think _could_ be affecting things is that the switch has been up for almost 8 months now. And has run into a known bug where the web GUI, SSH access, etc. has been knocked off. The only apparent solution to that bug is rebooting the switch itself. Although a core production switch makes that workaround pretty clumsy at best. I hope to do that this Sunday and will see if I then can add this mirrored port after the reboot.
