Netgear GSM7224 software version 5.0.2.1

Hi all,
We have a GSM7224v1, running software version 5.0.2.1. Our gigabit network is experiencing a slow down until the switch is rebooted (this happens about every 20 days), I was going to update the firmware to GSM7224 Firmware Version 6.2.0.14.

What are the chances of a firmware upgrade bricking this switch?
What are the chances of this firmware fixing the network slow down?

I logged in to the switch and was able to upload the current configuration to the tftp server, however after hours I cannot download the gsm7224_6_2_0_14.opr to the switch, here is what i am doing:
Transfer type: download to switch
file type: firmware
TFP server ip address: 192.168.xxx.xxx
tfp file path: /
tftp file name: gsm7224_6_2_0_14.opr

The log I get on the ftp server is: Fail to transfer file. Unable to receive a packet from the client.

Please help, thank you in advance.
