Restoring Saved Settings to Netgear Switch

I have been having problems restoring the configuration settings to my Netgear Switch

I performed the following steps:

1. I saved the switch settings (which includes VLANS) by uploading "image1" to my PC, using "http File Upload".  The original IP address of the switch was "192.168.30.2"

2.  I then reset the switch to "Factory Default settings".  The IP address is now reset to "192.168.0.239"

3.  I restored "image1", by downloading to the switch, using "http File Download"

4.  After rebooting the switch, the IP address is still "192.168.0.239", and none of the VLANS were restored.

Why aren't the original settings being restored?  What am I doing incorrectly?

Thanks,

Raj

    Hi rajkulkarni,

Backup configuration or saved settings are uploaded to your PC as text file and not an image file. Image file is for the firmware and maybe it was the backup image that you were trying to use.

In order for you to have a backup of your configuration.

    • Go to Maintenance > Upload > HTTP File Upload and select Text Configuration then click Apply button. A window displays to allow you to open the text file on the management system or to save the image or text file to the management system.

For restoring the configuration after resetting it to factory default.

    •  Go to Maintenance > Upload > HTTP File Download, Select Text Configuration, click the Browse button to locate the file you want to download then click the Apply button.

    Here is the reference(page 250 - 253).
