XS716T management vlan communication lost

hey there, I have a bit of a cunundrum.

i set up a vlan (id 3012) on my xs716t switch, and set port xg14 up on that vlan untagged. I gave the switch an IP and set the management vlan of the switch to 3012 and when i put a host on the same network as the switch's management IP plugged into that port on the switch i can't reach the management interface.

any suggestions on how to get back to the management interface or perhaps a console? all the other ports on the switch are still on vlan 1.

    Hi daveoy,

    Welcome to our community! :)

Once you changed the management VLAN, you should also change the PVID of the port that you wanted to manage the switch. If you want port 1 to be your PC(Admin PC) that manages the configuration of the switch, you need to change the PVID to 3012 too. So that it will be a member of VLAN 3012. You may need to reset the switch to factory default setting or access the switch via console in order for you to set the management VLAN back to VLAN 1 and gain access to admin GUI.

VLAN aware devices are always configured as T or Tagged like APs, Smart Switches, Routers, VoIP, etc. and non-VLAN aware devices should always be assigned as U or Untagged like PC, Printers, Scanners, etc.

is setting the PVID somehow different than adding the port i want untagged on vlan 3012?

        daveoy,

If you wanted a device to be a member of a specific VLAN, you need to set the port as U and assign the PVID 3012. It is a must to include PVID when setting U or Untagged ports.
