After switch upgrade Bonjour no longer works
Hello,
I upgraded the switches in our company and now have problems with some of the printers. Through googleing I was able to determine that the problem could be due to the usage of Bonjour and that IGMP Snooping is active.
My printers are connected to a GS108Ev3, which in turn is conntected to the rest of the network over a GC728X.
On the GS108Ev3 I deactivated the "IGMP Snooping Status" in the web interface. I was however not able to find the setting on the GC728X (neither in the app, nor in the web interface).
Just to make sure the printer / drivers were not the issue, I created a little "network" with a Mac and one of the printers, both connected with a simple switch GS105. The Mac was able to find the printer with out any problem.
I also checked that the firmware of both switches is up to date - so that isn't a solution.
So...
1) Is there a way to get Bounjour to work, even when IGMP Snooping active?
if not...
2) How can I deactivate IGMP Snooping on the GC728X?
Thanks
Found a solution - for anyone with the same problem:
I activated the IPP printing protocol.
I was able to re-activate IGMP Snooping.

One more thing I forgot to mention: I was able to circumenvent this problem with some printers (Brother) by re-adding them to the Mac using their IP adress. The OKI printers will not allow me to add them only by the IP address. I get an error message that the printer could not be "checked" and when I attempt to print on it I get the message that the printer is not reacting.
