Automatic port shutdown on link down

Hey guys,

to protect my LAN against the outside (TKS) I'm thinking about ways to achieve that.
There are VLANs and I also stumled across port security features based on MACs.

Now I read somewhere, that some switches have a feature, where on link down (pulled network cable) the port is automatically disabled - until manually enabled again via UI. Is this something netgear supports?

Cheers
Veit

    vguna,

As far as I have checked the GS752TPv2 user manual here, there is no option wherein the ports gets automatically disabled if the device has been unplugged from the switch.

However, you can still configure Port Security.  You can enable Port Security on all ports. You can specify the maximum number of dynamically learned MAC addresses on the selected interfaces.  You can also specify the maximum number of statically locked MAC addresses on the selected interfaces.  You can also enable/disable shutdown of the selected interfaces if a packet with a disallowed MAC address is received.
