CRC errors upgrading GS724TP Firmware

We received a new GS724TPV2 switch - the boot release is at B1.0.0.2 and firmware software version is 1.1.1.3 - we'd like to update the firmware before installing at the customer site.

This procedure being followed to update the boot code and firmware is here https://kb.netgear.com/25671/Updating-Boot-Code-via-TFTP-for-GS516TP-GS728TPx-GS752TPx-switches. From this description https://kb.netgear.com/23051/GS724TP-GS748TP-Switch-Firmware-Version-5-2-0-9, the upgrade is a two-step-process:

- Apply the interim image GS700TP_V1.0.0.inter.ros

- Apply GS7xxTP_AT_boot-1005.rfb image

Once there, then latest firmware can be applied.

When with image is applied via TFTP, the following error return from the device Management GUI, the following error is returned:

File download through TFTP is failed. Reason: wrong CRC.

I also tried updating the GS7xxTP_AT_boot-1005.rfb image directly with similar results.

This firmware is old, so would like to get it upgraded before the customer goes live.

Any insights appreciated.

Many thanks.

Peter

  • Hi pmkrautle,

    Welcome to the community! :)

This article you have posted is for the GS724TP (or GS724TPv1).  The switch that you have is a GS724TPv2 (v = version).  The firmware versions of the GS724TP is not compatible with GS724TPv2 and vice versa.

You may upgrade the firmware of your GS724TPv2 switch from v1.1.1.3 to the latest version which is v1.1.1.25.  You can download firmware v1.1.1.25 here.  Be reminded to perform a factory reset on the GS724TPv2 switch after upgrading the firmware then reconfigure the setting from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware version.
