GS305E and VLANs

So simple access ports on 2..5 or VLAN 7, while port 1 serves as uplink for VLAN 5 and VLAN 7. Should the uplink carry both VLAN in a tagged trunk, or is the uplink intended to carry the VLAN 5 as untagged?

Is the router port where you are connecting the uplink carrying the main VLAN 5 as untagged (also serving as the management VLAN), while the VLAN 7 is there as a tagged?

Keep in mind the uplink port post be configured the same way as your primary router port...

I can get into the management page just fine.  If I made the router's port VLAN 7 only, how would I manage the switch?

Then why are you bringing VLAN 5 to the switch? 

If all the client ports on the GS305E are on VLAN 7 then you actually don't need to set up VLANs at all on this switch.  All you need to do is to connect to an upstream switch/router port that is untagged and only in VLAN 7.
