VLAN setup with pcWRT PW-AX1800
Dear community,
I am trying to upgrade from my FritzBox network setup to a slightly more professional solution and would appreciate your advice!
I have come across the pcWRT PW-AX1800 router (https://shop.pcwrt.com/products/pcwrt-cf-xr10-gigabit-dual-band-secure-wifi6-router-with-parental-control) which looks almost to good to be true as it can do VLAN tagging, WLAN, ad filtering and more for a very low price.
Has anyone got experience with this device?
The intended setup could be:
router ______ Solar controller & battery (VLAN-A or separate VLAN)
| |
| |_____ L2 switch ___ VLAN-A: IoT LAN devices
| |
| |_____VLAN-B: trusted devices
|
L2 switch ___VLAN-A IoT LAN devices
|
|_____VLAN-B: trusted devices
The switches are Netgear GS308E and are on different floors.
There should also be WLAN for both networks distributed with AVM Fritz-Repeaters 2400 (as I already have them).
Do you think this would work?
Many thanks, Felix

There is no need to introduce a new router - your Fritz can support two networks and IP subnetwork. A beautifully documented project is shown here in the German Netgear Communty - granted, for the Plus switches admin network, you can't make use of tagged connections anyway ... as explained in depth in the linked thread already.

Many thanks for your fast reply! I will work through that interesting post.
I had seen a setup where the FritzBox LAN4 port is used as "guest" network to achieve VLAN tagging:

but it sounds like this is not necessary in your suggested setup?- schumakuGuru - Experienced User
