Differences between the GS105 and GS108 models?
Hi,
We use several 5- and 8-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-Unmanaged-Switches (GS105 and GS108).
Unfortunately, after an update of the telephone system, the telephones in the offices only work with the GS105 models.
The problem is reproducible: GS105 - phone is fine, GS108 - phone does not work.
So, the question arises: What is the difference between these two switches from the same model series (apart from the fact that one has 5 ports and the other 8)?
BTW: The computers in the offices are satisfied with both models.
Best regards,

What phone system (phones: make, model, phone-switch) are we facing here?
What exactly does not work on the phones?
Where are these unmanaged switches connected to - other switch, router, ... and last but not least the VOIP-switch?
From my other life, I know that certain unmanaged switches don't forward special packets like BPDU or CDP and LLDP for example. What is a good thing to prevent STP issues caused by IP phones, without CDP and LLDP, phones are neither discovered nor configured.
Additional complexity: There are at least five different GS108 versions (v1...v5), several the GS108 with PoE support (GS108P, GS108PP, ..), and we can also add the technically unmanaged GS108E versions, which come in several variants and versions again GS108EP (v1..v3).

We use several similar/identical Netgear access switches.
I have been testing them with this phone: Unify OpenScape Desk Phone CP400
At the moment I can narrow down the problem as follows:
Phone is working with:
NETGEAR ProSAFE 5 Port Gigabit Switch
Model: GS105v5
NETGEAR ProSAFE 8-Port Gigabit Switch
Model: GS108v3
Phone is NOT working with:
NETGEAR ProSAFE 8-Port Gigabit Switch
Model: GS108v4
Unfortunately, nearly all our 8-port access switches in use are GS108v4.
I still have three original packaged (with foil) 8-port switches.
However, the version is not written on the packaging.
Layer2 please try to answer all questions.
I've asked for the uplink network connection of these switches, the VoIP or IPPBX system, ... the effective problem the phones are reporting, ...
Looking at https://wiki.unify.com/wiki/OpenScape_Desk_Phone_CP_FAQ does show a list of codes. As Atos isn't a new child in this industry, I kindly ask you to challenge your IPPBX (aka. Unified Communication system vendor). There is certainly more than just an unmanaged switch and a desk phone involved.
