FVS318G connected to Charter Router using 2 different subnets

I have an issue where I have installed a Netgear FVS318G Firewall into the network. It works fine for devices hardwired off of it. I can connect to the internet. However, any device connected to the Cable Modem Router will not respond to any device off the FVS318G. The diagram below will show you the layout.

I would like the wireless network, 192.168.44.x to talk to 192.168.1.x network.

The wireless laptop cannot talk to the brew equipment.

The WiFi passes through DHCP (44.x network)

The devices on the 192.168.1.x network can get to the internet but not to any devices on the 192.168.44.x wired or wireless network.

Is there something very basic I am missing?

    Hello Griffdog,

    Welcome to the community!

The problem here is the laptop and the Bnew Equipment does not belong to the same network. With the configuration that you have right now, all devices behind the FVS318G is experiencing "Double NAT". If you want the laptop and the Bnew devices talking along with  the other devices behind the FVS318G you will have to remove the router function of the FVS318G. Assign an IP address to the FVS318G with the same range as the SMC modem (192.168.44.x) and disable its DHCP server function. After that, connect a cable from one of the LAN ports on the SMC to one of the LAN ports of the FVS318G. With this kind of setup, the FVS318G will act as a basic switch.

Let me know if you have questions.

    Thanks,
