VPN Lite Client License not available after uninstall

Hello,

Just uninstalled the VPN Client lite on a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop so we could move it to another system.

The uninstall ran to completion with no error messages.  Tried installing the VPN Client lite on another system and got the message that the VPN Client License is still in use.

Went back to the W8.1 laptop and control panel programs does not indicate that the Netgear Client Lite is installed.  However on my desktop, the icon is still there and when I click on it, I can still bring up the tunnel and VPN into our site.

The Netgear folder is still in the Program Files folder and the uninstaller is no longer in there.

I tried reinstalling on the W8.1 laptop and it says there is already and installation and that I should click "OK" to replace the existing installation.  The window closes and nothing else pops up.  The VPN tunnel still works after that.

I have two items that I need to resolve now:

1) How to get the VPN client lite software completely uninstalled from the W8.1 laptop;

2) How to get your license server to free up our existing license key.

I see that other people have encountered the same license issue previously and that you had to manually reset the license server to free up the key.

Let me know if you need our license key and if so where to send it.

Thanks

DaveJ

    Hi Seco7,

    Welcome to our community!

You could try installing the VPN client to the previous computer to have it repair, then uninstall the software. If it still not gonna work then we could have it reset for you and in order for us to have your license key to reset. I suggest you to open a chat / case online on NETGEAR support and please let them know that you only wanted to have your licenses to be reset.

    Regards,

      Hi John,

I did try reinstalling on the Windows 8.1Pro laptop.  It says that it detects and existing installation and to "click ok" to replace the existing installation.  At that point, all windows simply close with no indication of any further activity.  Waited about 20 minutes and still no pop-ups.  Task Manager did not show any a process in a wait state for installation.

      Regards

      David

        Seco7,

Thank you for that information. I suggest you to open a chat / case online on NETGEAR support and please let them know that you cannot install your old license key to your new PC.
