Can you extend the wifi signal of a WAX610 with an AX1600 Wifi Extender
Hello, I am trying to set up an AX1600 as a wifi extender to my closest Wax610 access point. The nighthawk app finds the Wax610 powered network ok (both 2.4 and 5) but when I enter the passwords (same for both), it comes back with 'Incorrect Password'. I have tried it with mesh turned on and off in the Wax610.
The AX1600 claims 'Works with your existing WiFi' but I can't get it to work. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong or any other setting I should try on my Wax610 (I am on Insight).
Thank you!
Andrew
Apologies I posted it here in case the issue was with the Wax610 configuration. But yes it has worked fine setting it up with the browser rather than the app - case solved!

Sure, you could extend a single SSID using such a basic extender like an EAX12 - however, not multiple VLANs and more. To discuss consumer WiFi Range Extenders & Nighthawk Mesh please join the appropriate community section.
Definitive the best solution to add additional Wireless Access Points is to add yet another WAX6xx or WBE7xx on a wired Ethernet connection.
Second best choice - where cabling can't be established easily - is to add yet another WAX6xx creating a Insight Mesh -> How do I set up an Insight Instant Mesh network? Yes, for this configuration, all the WAX6xx need to be Netgear Insight integrated. This automatically allows seamless roaming even for WPA3-Personal (WPA3-SAE) - without, this isn't possible,
Regardless is deploying a consumer WiFi extender or an Insight Mesh: Keep in mind - in absence of a wired backhaul or a dedicated wireless backhaul - that -all- the wireless traffic does flow over the same Wi-Fi channels, limiting the performance massively. So the performance disappointment is predictable.

But the nighthawk app finds the Wax610 powered network ok (both 2.4 and 5) but when I enter the wifi password in the nighthawk app as part of setup (same for both), it comes back with 'Incorrect Password'. I have tried it with mesh turned on and off in the Wax610. Anything I need to set differently on the Wax610?

The Insight Instant Mesh config is just required for adding additional WAX6xx as a wireless "satellite".
