Is it couth to respond to your own post?
I connected with NetGear support via the support chat tool. After spending about 15 minutes working on it the support tech, Arnold, deemed the unit defective and issued an RMA to replace the unit. Should have the new unit later this week. Hopefully it will work properly and I can get on with replacing the aged Cisco WAP.
