GC108PP managed switch: how to change management VLAN?
System -> Management -> IP Configuration has a text box for "Management VLAN ID". I have VLANs configured on this switch. When I try to set the value to anything other than the default of "1", I get a popup stating: "Error! Management access will be lost on MGMT VLAN configuration." No problem I figure, so I click OK. Nothing changes - the management VLAN is still 1.
The online help and the owner's manual state that it should be possible to change the management VLAN. I'm running the latest Firmware Version V1.0.8.10.
Any ideas?
Before defining the Management VLAN ID, the VLAN must exist on the switch.
The desired management VLAN does exist on the switch and I have verified that it works.
To avoid the management access isn't lost in space (mind you there is no external serial console on these smart switches): At least define a port as an access port for the VLAN ID desired, or as a port of a trunk carrying the VLAN intended, from where you are managing or operating the network.
I had a trunk port containing the desired management VLAN, and an access port where the management VLAN was tagged. That was not sufficient. I then gave one port a PVID of the desired management VLAN, and that worked - I could set the management VLAN on the web interface (Insight is not applicable).
I think this is either a bug or a documentation bug. Nowhere does it state that you must have a port with PVID = management VLAN in order to set the management VLAN.
Thanks for your help and the insight to allow me to fix my problem.

About a decade aao, when I had the pleasure beta testing these GC switches (GC510PP, GC728X - the GC108P/PP appeared much later in the market) , ths scope was more on the back then brand new Netgear Insight support.
Have some GC108P at a customer site, but admit these are Insight Managed locations, so the oddity (possibly a bug - not a documentation error of course) never hit my eyes there.
Happy you managed to find a solution, at least by a workaround I had not expected. The reply was just a short braindump on your question.
Thank you for following up perfect in time for the future community readers!

In case you are using Netgear Insight: Don't forget this management VLAN requires Internet cloud access, too.
