Nighthawk XR1000 Blocking all Steam Connections
Starting last week, my router started blocking all steam server access for downloads and online play. A gaming router.. blocking gaming. I have had this router with no issues for three years.
After factory reset, I can use Steam for about an hour, then nothing. All devices and web browsing work normally.
Log files show tons of false positive DOS attacks.
I have tried:
- Disabling QOS
- Factory reset
- Tried each of the versions of firmware
- Disabling port scan
- Turned my pc firewall on/off
- Same on 2.4 and 5 ghz networks
Any help would be appreciated. I am about to get rid of this thing.

- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerHave any settings or anything else in your network changed prior to this happening? How did you disable QoS exactly? If you disable the Geo-Filter does that allow you to connect?

Nothing has changed, at all. QoS disabled within DUMAOS, under QoS then congestion control, disable QoS.

Not sure how to fully disable geo-filtering. I normally have to reset the timezone because it puts me on the wrong coast all the time. But, even on the eastern coast, it makes no difference.
Also, I attempted to port forward every port that steam uses, got it to work for a couple minutes, then the router shut off. Restarted, and rest all settings.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerOn the Geo-Filter you manually put your location so you don't need to worry about the timezone. If you have a device added it'll either be disabled or in filtering mode or you can remove it completely. So if you disable or remove the device does it then work?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
- ashleyelizAspirant
It is not ISP owned, it is my own Netgear modem and its CM1200

Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.
