RBS350 Satellite loses connection to router
In our two story home, I have a RBR350 router downstairs and a RBS350 Satellite upstairs.
Upstairs I have a Playstation 5 connected to the router via a LAN cable.
While I know I could connect the Playstation via the Wifi Network, I find this gives me the best download/upload times.
My problem is that the RBS350 Satellite seems to randomly lose the connection to the router. This is most annoying when I am gaming online and suddenly the message appears "LAN cable not connected"
The satellite light is blinking white and usually the connection is restored in a couple of minutes.
There is no pattern to this, it sometime happens multiple times a day and then is okay for weeks.
I have reset and reconnected both the Router and the SAtellite, but the problem still persists.
Any suggestions?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Hi Furry,
thanks for the reply
The Firmware is v4.20.0.4_3.100.71 on the router and V4.20.0.4 on the Satellite.
The LAN CAble is a CAT 6, I am not sure about the ISP Modem, it's a company called Chorus here in New Zealand that provides the infrastructure.
However the Router does not lose connection to the ISP/Internet, it's only between the Satellite and the Router.
The house is about 1700 Sq Ft and the distance between the Satellite and Router in about 40 Ft.
I'll try a differnet placement of the router though, to increase the distance.
The 2.4Ghz Channel is on Auto, the 5Ghz is on 36 (but greyed out and not changeable
Hope this helps
Cheers

If this message appears on the PS5, that seems to be an indication that the RBS350 satellite has rebooted and the (2) Ethernet ports on the satellite are not active. When the satellite finishes booting up, the Ethernet connection to the PS5 are active again. As you are obviously aware, this is not supposed to happen.
It might be worth taking a few minutes to ensure that the electrical connection for the satellite is secure. i.e. there is nothing that can "wiggle loose". Probably also a good idea to use a small UPS to power the satellite. (I have ALL my networking equipment powered by UPS devices, "just in case")
Does anything appear in the Orbi Log file when this happens?
p.s. Yes. Connecting the PS5 with Ethernet is typically FAR superior for gaming than a WiFi connection. The Orbi 350 system uses the same 5G WiFi channel for (a) connecting user devices and (b) communication between the router and satellite (on the Forum, we call this "backhaul"). Since WiFi is "only one device can transmit at a time", connecting to the satellite via WiFi means that every transmission has to make "two hops" to get to/from the downstairs router. Also, WiFi is inherently "half-duplex" whereas Ethernet is "full-duplex".
Networking problems that are erratic are difficult to troubleshoot. (It is SO much easier when a problem can be replicated at will rather than waiting hours (or weeks) for it to happen again.)

Thanks for the response, CrimpOn
I have checked the connections as you suggested, but they all seem fine.
The suggestion to check the logs is a good one, didn't realise that there were logs.
So I went to orbilogin.com and checked but nothing unusual there. I'll check again once it happens again.
However I have only one log tab and it seems to be logs just for the router.
Is there a seperate log for the satellite or is it all in one?Might run thru some of this and see if anything helps:

Might try brining the RBS closer to the RBR. 30 feet is starting.
Also for that size of home, you might reduce the RBS deployed by 1. Or change the power on the RBR from 100% to say 50% with two deployed. Try one RBS first with 100% on the RBR.

Thanks. I only have 1 Satellite, so that should be good.
Does the RBS write seperate logs and if yes is there a way to access them?
