RBS350 Satellites Won't Connect to RBR750 Router

RBR750 router works fine.  Recently neither of my two RBS350 satellites will connect.

Router and satellites were factory reset.  Reouter's Internet connectivity tested good.  Router appears in web-based and app network viewing options.

Router firmware is up to date.

Attempts to wirelessly connect router and satellites via knowledge base articles don't result in router & satellite sync.

Powering down, waiting 3 mintues, powering up, and trying again don't result in router & satellite sync.

Connecting router and satellite via Cat5 cable gets the satellite light blue, but the satellite still can't be seen in web-based and app network viewing options.  Removing the cable after as long as 30 minutes has the satellite light going from blue to white.

What painfully obvious thing am I missing?

  • Life got in the way so this is a much overdue update. The solution was to give my laptop a static IP, connect the satellites to my laptop via a USB-to-RJ45 network adapter, and manually load an older firmware update from before my problem started. Once I did that, the satellites loaded up and connected to my router without issue. In order to prevent the router from redownloading a more current firmware update that would recreate my problem, I blocked some Netgear domains (frw-update.netgear.com, updates.netgear.com, and firmwareapi.netgear.com). This unexpectedly had the effect of blocking my browser's access to any and all netgear-based sites, including this community. I'm fact, I'm having to make this post via my cell phone and it's 5G connection until I can figure out how to block firmware updates without also blocking community pages.

Just curious, how are you blocking those 3 domains?

I just set up a different router here and input those to a URL blocking feature of the router that I believe should work to block those domains from access. I'm still able to access the community here and there main site...

Odd that blocking those 3 domains also blockes the community. It shouldn't.

There maybe a update check option on the RBRs web page that was implemented back in 2021 time frame where NG finally put in the option to enable or disable FW update check on the RBR. Not sure if this on the 650 series as I never got this series to check out. I know the 750 series and beyond has this UI option.

    Any progress on this?

If these units were purchased as an RBK653 "kit"  consisting of one RBR750 and two RBS350, then the current firmware is v7.2.8.2

    https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk653

(There is newer firmware for the RBR750 router, but that version may not be compatible with the RBS350 satellites)
