WAN port of my RBR850 has been stuck at 100m

I am having the same issue where WAN port of my RBR850 has been stuck at 100m. All other LAN ports are at 1000m.

I tried using CAT6 and 6e both, brand new cables, but no luck. The WAN port pins are intact and can't see any damage.

Connecting from NBN modem (Australia) to NG RBR850 directly using cat6e.

Tried factory reset, latest firmware but doesn't change.

Any help would be appreciated. The investment was significant approx $2000 with 4 satellites 3 years ago.

  • What happens if you connect up as a quick test, any 1000Mbps supporting PC to the WAN port. While you have the other PC connected to the LAN port, check the WAN port speed on the RBRs web page, does it show 100Mbps or 1000Mpbs with the temp ethernet PC connected to the WAN port?

What is the model# of the NGN modem that the RBR is connected to?

What FW version is currently loaded?

  • FW - v7.2.6.31

Modem is provided by NBN company in Australia so not NG but I tried it with other router and it gives 1000m so not a modem issue I am assuming.

Based on earlier solution in this thread I had tried connecting my laptop to RBR using USB-C to Ethernet port connector from laptop to WAN port of RBR. I don't think it was useful as probably it didn't have 1000mbps link/connection itself (due to USB-C may be).

I will take RBR to my workplace and test as you have mentioned to see if it changes to 1000m. Will post the update. Thank you.

Most USB C to ETH adapters these days are 1000Mpbs supporting.
Let us know what it shows at your work place. Can connect any PC or even a LAN switch up long enough to see WAN port speed while another PC is connected to LAN port and it's web page.

Helps for us to know model of the ISP modem/ONT as reference.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the help.

I updated both RBR850 and their 4 satellites RBS with the latest firmware v7.2.7.15 with the links you provided this morning.

I rebooted the whole thing, I can see latest firmware in place and it's still showing 100m/full on WAN port.

So I took the RBR850 to my workplace to try the 1GBPS link by connecting it to WAN port, and my laptop connecting to LAN port of RBR and accessed the Webpage and it still shows 100m/full on WAN port. LAN is 1000m which it used to be and was never an issue.

I tried cleaning the WAN port, I factory reset it again but no lock.

I think I have ran out of the options and may consider buying something like Ubiquity products next week as even after spending $2,000 AUD in just 2 years, this has come to an end.

I would not have known this issue, had I not upgraded my NBN / Internet speed from 100/40 to 285/40. As through Orbit it never went from 90MBPS download to 200MBPS+ and then I started investigating why it wasn't going above 100m.

        Thank you for the help.
