Please Help: RBE771 - Orbi 770 Unable to Set Up
Hi All
Just recently purchased the Orbi 770 and have been attempting to get the router set up and configured using PPPoE on my full fibre FTTP ISP provided broadband with no luckk.
I'm following the instructions in the Netgear Orbi App and going through the steps but when I get to the configuration stage of entering username and passsword, the app showing the spinnning wheel of death "Apply configuration" and after about 2 minutes I get an error message "Something went wrong. Please try again." See below.
I am also unable to connect to the router via the web to try and configure this without using the mobile app. Going to orbilogin.com or 192.168.1.1 does not take me to the router login page - just an empty browser window loading endlessly and eventually times out to a 502 Service Not Available error.
The internet service works fine when using the Router issued by my ISP here in the UK (Zen Internet) and they've verified this. I've been on the phone to them with the Orbi connected and they confirmed they cannot see any authentication request being made at all.
PLEASE HELP - I am on verge of returning this if I can't get this set up.
Thanks
Managed to resolve with Netgear Support. Hard reset of the router helped me get access to 192.168.1.1 and then followed the web UI to set up the router and then the satellites. Took about 45 mins on the phone but managed to get it resolved.

What firmware version is loaded on the 770 series system?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended. If there is a router at the ISP level, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Hi FURRYe38 - thanks for replying.
Firmware Version
V10.5.10.10_2.2.29I haven't updated as I'm nervous about updating and running into the dropout/connectivity issues I've seen several members have posted about with the 770 series (please correct me if I am wrong and please do let me know if there is a better/more stable version of Firmware that I should update to).
I don't know how to get the Mfr but the ONT is a BT Openreach one - installed in June 2025.
As I get FTTP directly to my home, I confirmed with Zen (my ISP) that I don't need to use their supplied router in Bridge mode or modem only mode. They confirmed I should be able to connect the ONT to the Netgear Orbi Router directly using the WAN port.
I have successfully managed to get this working now after doing a hard reset with the Netgear Support Agent over the phone.
Thanks for sharing the reference link!

If you see this happen again, I would get the system updated to newest FW version as current FW is not up to date:

I've had my 770 series online for past 10 plus days down on this version of FW. Working great.

I don't have IPv6 enabled on my RBR.
