RAX120 V2 Constant Random Reboots
The router reboots frequently sometimes every 30 minutes. I have noticed that the router reboots under heavy system load of +50% on the processor. The only way I have been able to drastically lessen the issue is by turning off 2.4 Ghz WMM services. Unfortunately my 2.4 Ghz devices pay the price for that with slower throughput. I can't even view some security camera streams any longer because the bandwidth is so poor.
I first purchased this router about a month ago and have already had the unit replaced by NG once but unfortunately the replacement does the same thing. I am within the time period to return the router. I'm hesitant to purchase the RAX200 because of the same issue. I may have to try another brand after 10 years of using NG. It doesn't look like Netgear has a solution for this either- I've spent plenty of time troubleshooting with the Level 2 support folks (they spent a lot of insinuating that the power outlet was the culprit, even after trying the router on several outlets and APC backups)).
- Installed beta firmware 1.2.3.33 on it and then turn fan on in debug.htm. Just check mark it , don’t click on apply.
And bought a cool pad from amazon $10 . 4 days in a row no restart and router works perfect.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

im an IT network engineer, this wifi router is what is rebooting at least once a day if not 2 or 3 times a day. wired devices and wifi devices are losing connection. the fiber modem/gateway is staying alive during the netgear nighthawk's reboot.

Let us know if you want to try the BETA FW that fixes the reboot issue seen on RAX120v2s
Please post the first 3 characters of the routers serial number on the sticker on your unit.

- AlansinAspirantSame problem, random DCs share the FW please!!
As a side note I can’t connect my ps4
and when I connect the modem directly to the router, I can’t get any internet. So I have to connect the fiber-> router -> SFR modem -> RAX120v2 to be able have internet. I get good speeds but I have to have the 2 modems wired up
My SN: 6k0

I’d like to test the beta that keeps the RAX120v2 up and running. First three SN digits are 6JY and I’m using Xfinity, I believe my modem is the Netgear CM700. Thank you!

Is it still possible to obtain the beta/RC firmware? I too am experiencing random reboots with the RAX120v2 on firmware 1.2.8.40. Mine is currently in AP mode and its connected to an Ubiquiti ER-4.

I wanted to chime in that disabling WMM fixed this issue for me. I am still interested in an update that will allow me to use WMM again though as I read it is pretty neat.
- I’ve been running the beta Fw for about 7 weeks and I’ve had one reboot after 20 or so days, it’s been 30 days since then and no more issues.
Any idea when NG are going to release this to the masses and stop the frustration this is causing for so many of their customers?
- hfallifeAspirant
I got the same rebooting issue on rax120v2.
My serial starts with 6K0.ISP: China Unicom
Modem: Huawei optixstar hn8346x6-c
Not sure if the beta FM fit for my devices. Thanks!- no6969elGuide
I highly encourage anyone who is having these issues on their Knighthawk to please disable WMM (uncheck both) and test it out. This may work for you until they release a proper fix.
