connect CBR750 to xfinity gateway without ethernet cable?
Apparently xfinity isnt charging equipment rental fees anymore. I was trying to make a small adjustment to my internet plan and the rep said it was cheaper for me to use their xfinity gateway rather than continue with my CBR750. That didnt make any sense to me but i wanted to save money so I agreed to use the xfinity gateway.
I still want to make use of my CBR750. I read about the faux AP mode but how can I use the CBR750 and the xfinity gateway together but in separate parts of the house WITHOUT having to run an ethernet cable between the two?
I dont have the skills or funds to run 50+ feet of cabling through my walls. Having the gateway and CBR right next to each other seems like a waste of wifi coverage.
could i connect the CBR750 to the ethernet port of a wifi extender and do the faux AP mode from there?

the CBR requires the ISP coax cable to be connected to work correctly.
Yes you can configure the CBR for a faux AP mode using the LAN port to connect it to a host router LAN port. Need to set the CBR to the same subnet IP address as the host router, then disable the DHCP server on the CBR.

Most of us would prefer to have a single WiFi network covering the entire house than two WiFi networks. If there are satellites in addition to the CBR750, that would be a mesh WiFi system which will cover more of the building than a single WiFi node (the Xfinity gateway).
If the house is large enough to require more than one WiFi access point, most people would pick the Orbi or Xfinity, but not both.

The CBR750 is designed to connect to Cable Coax. Is the Xfinity gateway also a Cable modem? (not fiber?) Maybe Xfinity no longer charges for equipment (really???) I struggle to understand how the monthly cost of service would be less when they provide equipment than when they do not.

One can use a CBR in faux AP mode and if there is a satellite, still use the system in AP mode with the ISP router, as long as they turn the ISP modem wifi OFF. The CBR system still can be used as a MESH system with there ISP router.
