Good matched Router for CM1000?
Trying to setup a network with a CM1000 on Xfinity. I live in a 1930 House with plaster walls so Wifi barely bleeds from room to room. I ran CAT6 from basement to attic patch panel thendrops into each bedroom closet. My network starts out like this:
CM1000 connected to>
AC1200 connected to>
GS108 8 port Gigabit Switch connected to>
Patch panel connected to>
6 Netgear Wireless Routers (3 x AC1200's, 1 AC1600, 2 x Nighthawk AC1900's) all set as Access Points
I was wondering if my choice of router (AC1200) behind the CM1000 would choke my network? I have tried to find a "If you buy a CM1000 this is the best Netgear router for performance" and I haven't found any suggestions. The network is ok, but I feel I may be choking traffic with the AC1200 directly behind the CM1000. I am going to put one of the Nighthawk AC1900's behind the CM1000 tonight for testing. Any suggestions would be great!

I just purchased the cm1000 also. Paired it with linksys velop w/2 nodes. Don't waste your time with that, I can assure you. I'm taking it back. ...I'm interested to learn what works with this modem.
- Mac58AspirantAfter some additional research and experimenting, I've come to the conclusion that the Velop nodes have to physically "see" each other in order to provide optimum performance. Not having issues now, system is doing fine. Two story, 3300 sq ft house. Any more than that you may want to consider the three node Velop system.

Panda - It is interesting that you connected the CM1000 to your AC1200 router first. I purchased the CM1000 and connected to the GS108 switch and while all 8 LAN ports Light up, only one connection works out of the switch. I have another Lynksis E2800 switch which I also tried with the same results. I have some routers that actually do work an old Netgear RP614v2 and a Lynksis E4200. Both routers work and extend my LAN but the location of the wireless router near the modem gives low coverage in my house. My conclusion is that the CM1000 isn't compatible with switches (at least two that I have tried). Netgear tech support has been useless. Has anyone else seen this or perhaps my CM1000 is defective...?
