How do I disable NETGEAR Genie from starting?
When I first used my cable modem and went to http://192.168.01 I arrived at a bare-bones setup (no web-based Genie). Then I downloaded/installed Genie. After a few days I decided I wanted to return to the original setup. I uninstalled Genie but now I get the web-based Genie. Nothing I do seems to prevent it from starting. I tried re-installing Genie but after the second install Genie crashes immediately, won't start, so I uninstalled it again. I've reset my cable modem to factory settings and the web-based Genie still starts.
What do I have to do to return to the out-of-the-box setup?
I've searched the Community here for 2 days and I can't find a solution so I apologized if I've started an unnecessary thread.
I have the AC1900, C6300BD from my ISP (Cox) and Windows 10.
Hello LSUfan71
Unfortunately you can not revert back with a cable modem all the Firmware is pushed out by the ISP so that is why this happened so the new firmware updated everything.

Uninstall genie from your laptop / desktop. Then launch a browser and connect to the IP address of the router. Genie is part of the router Web-UI. The imprtant part is not running it on a laptop / desktop..

I've installed and uninstalled Genie twice. I've deleted internet history/cookies from both IE and Chrome. Then connected both to the IP address of the router and the web-based Genei still appears.

Just now I deleted IE internet history/cookies (everything, again, and reset to default), reset router (2nd time today), uninstalled network adapter driver, and uninstalled network adapter from Device Manager. Then shut down my system and router for 10 minutes. Restarted. Used IE to go to http://192.168.0.1 and the web-based NETGEAR Genie started again.
Can't get rid of it. Please help.
- LSUfan71AspirantI was afraid of that. Thanks for the reply.
