Ring Doorbell 2nd Gen and Netgear C6300v2 Internet Connectivity Problem

Hello,

Is there anybody facing a problem during setting up Ring Doorbell 2nd Gen?

My Router model is C6300v2 and I could not make my Ring Doorbell 2nd Gen setup successfully.

It is always giving an "There is an internet connectivity problem in your wifi" at the end of the setup process.

When I tried to set it up with a mobile phone hotspot set up is successfully completed and doorbell is working properly.

I contacted the Netgear support and tried these suggested configuration changes(which did not work):

- Changed the Wifi(tht is going to be used by doorbell) channel to 6 then 11.

- Reset the modem

- DMZ the mobile phone IP which has the Ring App that is used for setting up the Ring Doorbell.

- Create a guest wifi network and try to use that guest wifi for setting up the Ring doorbell.

The configuration change that I could not apply due to ISP limitations is:

- Change the DNS address to 8.8.8.8.

If you face this issue, will you suggest any other configuration change please?

I also contacted my ISP Provider but they did not come up with a solution.

Thanks & Regards.

when you were going through setup, was your phone on the 2.4ghz network?

Something you can try, is shut off the c6300. Make your phone hotspot to have the samd ssid/password as the router. then setup the ring usign the hotspot. Once its setup, shut off the hotspot and turn the router back on to see if it'll auto-connect since its using the same ssid/password.

      Thanks plemans for your reply.

I tried your configuration, doorbell successfully connected to the hostpot (with the same SSID of home wifi) and working successfully.

After I switched on C6300,the doorbell still seems online but when I try to connect to doorbell from Ring app with live view it did not work. Also when I pressed the ring doorbell I did not receive any notification on my phone.

Anyway, in my case I could not find a solution after spending many hours to configure it and returning the doorbell is the only option I guess.

      Thanks.

did you reboot the doorbell? after turning off the hotspot?

  • I have the same problem.

I have a two ring security camera's which will not connect to my C6300V2 Netgear router. I contacted ring, xfinity and netgear and no luck. Same ring camera's work with different router.

    Things i tried:

1.Connecting to different router - works good

    2.Connecting to 2.4 with WPA2-PSK [AES]

3.Connecting to 2.4 unique ssid with no security

    4.Reset ring multiple times.

    5.provide static ip

    6.Setting Port forwarding.

    7.Factory reset my router.

Netgear customer care is suggesting to buy a network clean up package(close to 220$ for a year) to resolve this, do you guys think that is legit?

I had the same problem and I can confirm this solution works for me.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Ring/comments/mlbfdc/rind_doorbell_gen_2_doesnt_connect_to_modem/gtkkika/

"I finally got it fixed. I was sent to an advanced technician after calling Ring Support. He said that my modem is known to have this issue.

He had me go into the modem and change the 2.4 ghz channel to "up to 54 mbps" instead of "up to 450 mbps" which is what it was set to.

After I applied the new setting, the Ring Doorbell connected to my modem. We then ran some tests and everything worked great. Next we put the 2.4 ghz channel back to "up to 450 mbps" and tested again to make sure everything still worked, and it did."

    Thank you freethinker42 from Reddit!

Thank you JimmyTsai for posting this solution.

I can confirm this solution worked for my Netgear AC1750 C6300v2 and Ring Stickup Cam's.

I was very close to returning my cameras but thank goodness I saw your post.
