Trying to find an answer regarding AC1750 model C6300 PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have an AC1750 C6300 router modem, I have been trying to find area coverage for the WiFi from this equipment, because I am moving into a 3 story house. There are no of us who all have some sort of electronic gadgets from cell phones, tablets, a laptop and 2 PCs & 2 TVTVS soon to be 3, so I need to find out what extenders may work best. Do I need 1 per floor because router will be on second floor of the house. Or what???

We also use Android items, Windows 7 & 10, Roku x 2 and I may be getting a Fire Stick as well, so after spending 3 days scouring the Web I have drawn a blank! I will be hooking up to Time Warner for internet.

I sure hope someone can help me with this!

  • Internet provider will be Time Warner, plan to get greatest they have as far as speed.

I see you wrote ACxxx. Call me thick headed but can I have a number range, because there are so many I've read in the past few days that are netgear but don't or can't find right compatibility.

There are two ways to approach it.

      1. Get something closely matched to the capabilities of your Internet service.  The Time Warner website says that it offers up to 50 Mbps in most locations, with 300 Mbps in a few, select locations.  If we assume that you can get 50 Mbps, then you could get by with an AC750 or even a N600 class extender.  The range of the slower extenders tends to be lower, so that's another thing to keep in mind.
      2. Get something closely matched to the capabilities of your C6300.  That would call for either a AC1900 or a slightly slower AC1200 class extender.  If you do a lot of heavy duty file transfers or streaming between computers inside your house, then this option may be worthwhile.  Otherwise, it would be overkill relative to your Internet service; it would be the proverbial supercar limited to expressway speed limits vs the autobahn.
  • Any idea on what plugin extenders may work well with what I have if they're needed? House is new a totally cable/Ethernet ready.

New house in a neighborhood so I'm sure there will be a level of other systems nearby.

Awesome, with Ethernet you are in a great position to extend Wi-Fi without the usual speed penalty that comes with a wireless range extender.

How fast is your Internet service?

If your budget allows get one or two ACxxx extenders, or you do go lower end if your Internet speed is slower.  Connect the extenders to Ethernet and enable Access Point mode.  You can download the manuals for Netgear's range extenders by clicking on Get Support for each model.  Then read up on how to enable Access Point mode.

  • Unfortunately, it's impossible for anyone to provide you with a definitive recommendation.  The construction of your house, the presence of nearby radio interference and other Wi-Fi networks will determine whether you can make do with just the C6300 or whether you'll need extenders on the top and bottom floor.

Certainly, central placement of the C6300 on the middle floor will give it the best chance of covering the whole residence.  If your house is wired for Ethernet, then you can take advantage of it by deploying wired Access Point strategically in areas with poor coverage.  You can also use Powerline as a substitute for Ethernet, although results will be less reliable; it may work great or not at all.

Start with just the C6300 and see how it goes.  Map out the dead spots where you want to boost the signal.  It should become evident whether you need 1 or 2 range extenders.
