A6200 to R6300 speed problems
Hi everyone.
I do have an R6300 and an A6200 and I am facing the fillowing problem.
When I first connect (5G) I only get 144 mbps and after a few minutes the
speed increases to something around 270 mbps and there is stays ...
I discovered that if I reset the R6300 then I will connect at 144mbps and within 1-2 minutes the speed rises to 866 mbps and there it stays ...
I cannot figure out why I only have 866 mbps after R6300 reboot.
If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I only get 528 mbps - Yes, it is good, but I only get after I restart the R6300. If not I only get 270mbps. I do not undestand why that is happening.
- What OS? What adapter driver version? What security encryption protocol?
I had a similar problem with the "new" driver so I rolled back to 1.0.0.18 and it all went away. - I am on windows 7

Security: WPA2-PSK
Full bars and connected at 585 Mbps
When I try and do a sw update I get this message:
ERROR: Could not read control file on NETGEAR server.
How are you getting you driver updates? - For the adapter I have downloaded from the support website. The last update I obtained for the router, I use the GUI interface to perform the upgrade.
I have never used the Genie interface, preferring to control my router from the device IP. Doing so, I believe I have avoided most of the complaints brought forward in these threads.
Yesterday, I installed the new .11 standalone driver on my Win 7 64 bit laptop. I could not get speeds to report in the Windows Network and Sharing utility to above 270 mbs and the signal strength stayed at 4 bars under 15' from the router with no obstructions. While it seemed fast, I without actual testing rolled back to the .4 standalone and the speeds jumped to 866.5 with full bars. Who knows? - I just upgraded to the new R6300 firmware available on the router upgrade web interface only at this time. The version number is 1.0.2.68.
That seemed stable and I again upgraded the A6200 driver to the 1.0.0.11 version and the speeds were 866.5 mbs.
In the release notes for the router firmware it states that beamforming enhancements were made in the new version....bottom line, it seems to be well mated to the adapter firmware now. searay wrote: Just checking and didn't see this in the thread, Just an FYI incase some are trying to use on a USB 2 port.
less than 480 Mbps for a USB 2.0 interface.
i'm on a usb 2.0 and I am getting 528 Mbps.- USB2.0 natively support only upto 480Mbps so not sure that is right but in order to use full 802.11AC, it has to be used with USB3.0
