Wifi Extender Limited Number of Connections, Devices Dropping, EX6200
So I currently have my EX6200 setup with my cable provider router.
I have 2 issues:
1.) I was able to achieve, using the smart setup (2.5GHz to router, 5GHz with devices) get something like 53MPs/6MPs u/d before I updated my firmware, on a service that I typically get 180MPs/10MPs u/d if wire connected to my cable modem directly. So it was good. Now with the latest firmware update, I get 10MPs/5MPs on a good day. Was there a security patch that makes it so slow? Also the firmware update over simplified the menus, now I can't see the details I require.
2.) More related to my worry. I connect to my extender via the 5GHz band with iPads, iPhones, etc. It seems that for some reason, after 1 or 2 days, only 1 or 2 devices can connect to the extender, and the rest of the devices sit there trying to connect at infinium.. never ending. It acts like it does in hotels when the wifi no longer has IP addresses it can issue anymore and needs to be rebooted. So I continually have to reboot power on/off the thing to have the next device to connect to it to work. However it defeats the whole purpose of this exender if it's severly limited in the number of devices that can connect, and I constantly have to reset the dang thing. I'm not talking 10 concurrent devices, but 4-5 should be no issue. What's the problem that I'm not seeing? Is there setting or security issue I need to address? Is there a more advanced menu I can activate, because the default are so simplified I can't find the problem. It's driving me nuts!
Appreciate any insight you can provide - more for issue 2, as that's the one wanting me to throw this unit out the window.
Details/setup:
- Hardware Version: EX6200
- Firmware Version: V1.0.3.68_1.1.104
- Using "Speed" Setup - 2.5GHz to router/modem, 5GHz for devices
- Password default to modem
- Security default to modem
- IP address for Unit dynamically requested from modem
Thanks,

P.S. The model field in this form doesn't work in Chrome.

I've never personally used an EX6200, but firmware updates for routers often require a factory reset due to incompatible configuration changes. So, try performing a factory reset and reconfigure by hand. Do not reload a saved configuration file.
If the factory reset doesn't help, try downgrading back to your previous release.

Thanks for the reply.
I actually found answers in 2 other threads that I didn't find when searching on this site directly nor google. Ironicially creating this case then created a "recommended / similar" cases on the right that I then utilized. First I followed this solution:
And after resetting both the modem and the extender - seemed to work for about 1.5 weeks. However the problem is now back with the devices not connecting anymore.
So now I'm going to follow the recommendation of a thread I found through that same method, and now I cannot anymore because the recommended cases are not the same. :( Anyway it was similar to what you are recommending, like this thread:
So as of now my problem is still not solved. I have a feeling it's related to this latest firmware, so downgrading to .98 - what I had before - will eliminate both issues.
Crossing my fingers!

Well I just did the downgrade to .98, and my devices connected immediately. So although happy, not entirely going to count my chickens before they hatch yet.
Will monitor this for another 2 weeks, and if it stays stable - will consider it closed.
Thanks again for the reply!
