R6400 Weak Power, low range

Hi all

I have bought the R6400 to reach all rooms in my house. Sadly, the router from the internet provider has more range and power even if it is standing a floor below. Furhter, the R6400 is unable to get through more than one room or into another floor. (Trough a wood ceiling!!, Not an army shelter)

I have the Wlan power on 100 %.

If I am right there are three possibilities: Either the router is defect or Netgear is promising ******* or I made a mistake.

I would be thankfull if somebody know an answer.

FW: 1.0.0.26_1.0.14

Best Regards

Thank you all for your answers.

In this case Netgear will have to replace it.

    Have a nice evening

  • Have you tried to scan wifi spectrum around you to how many other routers wifi that may be interfering with your router?

Possible that you have a bad router with the wifi power set to full it should cover a reasonably size home.

      Thank you for answering.

Yes, I did. But we live in a small house. So there are only two weak neighbour wlans. On the 5 GHZ there is no channel used, just ours.

On the 2.4 the netgear router has a channel and its neighbour channel for its own.

      Best Regards

If a bad router you could try to support for a replacement or return to place you get the router if still their replacement time frame. Sounds like the router has a problem you did disable the modem/router's from your isp or placed into a bridge mode if you can access it's gui.
