R6400v2 DNS Issues

My last internet provider required a wireless gateway, so I didn't need to use my R6400v2 for about a year. I just pulled it out again and did a factory reset. In the process it upgraded to the latest firmware (V1.0.4.120_10.0.91). It works, but I keep getting DNS issues. I've been looking into it and trying various troubleshooting methods. I came across some posts on here and reddit that claim that the latest firmware caused the issue. I tried flashing the only other firmware version I could find and it did in fact fix the issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue and resolved it in a different way? If not, does anyone have a link to the last stable firmware version?

EDIT: I found where they hid the 'Veiw Previous Versions' I am going to roll back to v1.0.4.106_10.0.80

Seen this after you edited. Let us know if that doesn't help with the dns issue

Thank you. So far this firmware version works perfectly fine, no more DNS issues. Hopefully Netgear releases a fixed firmware for anyone else who is experiencing the issue, it was infuriating to troubleshoot.

We even struggled on here. And the problem is that its across multiple product lines. There's been a lot of downgrading lately so I'm hoping they're working on it!

  • I have a Nighthawk R8000P that autoupdated to the newest firmware (V1.4.2.84_1.3.42).  I have had nothing but DNS issues since the "upgrade".  I just rolled back to the previous firmware (V1.4.1.68_1.3.28) and DNS problems all gone.

I am.  I changed the IPv6 settings to AUTO and went to an IPv6 test site.  My tests all passed so I did the firmware update again.  Everything seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
