R6900 says no Internet but extender does
This just started this morning. I cannot connect to the R6900 (same as 7000) with WiFi nor CAT5. Says no Internet; however, the extender that is connected to the exact same SSID from the router is functioning perfectly. How can the extender see the router but no other devices can?
I have already power cycled both the router and the separate Netgear cable modem.
Power Off the modem and press the reset button in back of the router for 15 seconds then release. Power ON the modem. Give 2 minutes then with your hard wired PC connected, see if your web browser can start the setup wizard at 192.168.1.1

What model cable modem do you have?
Factory reset the R6900 and setup from scratch with out the extender being online. Then make sure wireless and ethernet devices can connect to it there, if so, then connect the extender.
CAT6 cable is recommended between the modem and router.

The modem is a CM1100. Side note, all the devices that won't connect were turned off last night. So, it is new connections that can't see the router. The extender runs 24/7, so it had a previously established connection.

Please explain "cannot connect".
- Obviously, a device wired to the router with a cable is "connected". Even if the device reports "no internet", it should be able to do various things with the router, such as
o 'ping' the router using its IP address
o connect to the router web interface using the IP address - In terms of WiFi, does the WiFi name (SSID) appear as one of the available networks?

Sitting at my Mac that has a hard connection to the router, I enter 192.168.1.1 and it says page failed to open. Connection to the extender via WiFi and the router log in appears. FYI, the Internet light on the router is blinking white. The manual says it should be solid white.
