R7000P drops internet connections

Hi,

We purchased a new R7000P a couple of weeks ago as a replacement for our old R6220 router and are now experiencing random internet/wan connection drop outs.

As a reference the 6220 never had issues with this.

The R7000P is updated to the latest firmware and the connection issues seem to concern both wired and wifi devices.

Anyone experienced similar and have a solution for this?

Regards Rune

  • Hi RuP,

If you connect the old router, will you still get stable connection?

Connect the computer directly to the modem and check if the connection is stable.

If still the same, reset the router and reconfigure.

Is the only solution to reset to factory and reconfigure? I’m having the same issue where my R7000P which is setup as WiFi router in my house drops internet twice a day. I have the R7000p setup with a WAN address of my local subnet.
  • this is very frustrating!!.. Lately my NetGear router (A900 r7000) is droping connection multiple times a day ( both wireless and wired).

I tried MANY suggestions listed above. I did factory reset, MTU adjustment, security adjustment etc.. But nothing works. and Netgear has not provided any solution.

and whats puzzling is, they want MORE money for support!

any help would be greatly appreciated

      Hi Shankarvs,

What is the firmware version of the router?

What other firmwares you have tried?

  • I am sorry for the late reply.

For me the problem still persists even with the latest firmware (V1.2.0.22_1.0.78) and I am now at the stage where I most likely will return the router to the dealer and buy another router from another brand.

    • Same issue here.

Running V1.2.0.22_1.0.78. Tried the factory reset and security settings with no success. router drops both 2.4 and 5. To pay this price tag and deal with such poor quality, I think it's time to switch to another manufacturer.

I stated in another thread what has worked for me so far is disabling 5ghz and only running 2.4. Running both bands at same time appears to be the issue which is very frustrating because it's a DUAL BAND router. Netgear need to fix this ASAP. I haven't tried running just 5ghz it may run independently as well.
