X6 AC3200 R8000 as a Wi-Fi mesh extender
I've been trying to set up my Nighthawk router as a mesh extender for some time now, well ever since Frontier went from the Arris router to the eero router. Definitely no joy there.
I have jumped ship from Frontier to Spectrum and am still unable to set the Nighthawk up as a mesh extender. The lack of joy continues!
I have followed every bit of instruction I have been able to find to connect to the router via wired connection (laptop) and wireless connection (iPhone using the Nighthawk app and connected to the routers wi-fi signal ) and neither have worked as I continue to get the error message that the server has failed or stopped responding when accessing the following url's / web addresses.
92.168.1.250
192.168.0.1
- 192.168.1.1
- 10.0.0.1

In case anybody is curious or wants to ask, the entire house is pretty much a dead zone and is why I am willing to continue to use the Spectrum Wi-Fi router and set the X6 as an extender in order to be able to carry the signal throughout the house.
Any assistance and suggestions on how to get the router set up as a mesh extender are greatly appreciated.

Sidebar... the reason my_wifi_ext_.net has the underlines in it is becuase as I published the post, a warning message appeared stating that the URL without the underlines was not allowed to be posted in the forum ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).

The R8000 series router only supports AP mode. Does have any support for a wireless repeater or extender mode. For AP mode, you would have to ethernet connect the R8000 to a host router and put it in a remote location for AP mode.

Well, unfortunately, that is not an option because Spectrum has locked out their Wi-Fi router (
SBE1V1K or SBE1V1R ) for proprietary reasons, not allowing anything to be connected to it. Even if I could hardwire into their router, I still can't get into the X6's admin settings to configure it.

If you can't hardwire it in with ethernet, might check out a powerline adapter or a MoCa adpter (ethernet over coax).
Just another option.
What actual router is it from spectrum? Some of their newer ones are getting the options for adding satellites.

The model number on the installed wi-fi 7 router is SBE1V1K or SBE1V1R. If by satellite you mean their extender pods, yeah... I tried one for about a couple of three weeks and it really didn't improve the throughput or make any noticeable difference because the devices in the dark side of the house were still showing a noticeable degradation of service

Factory reset the R8000. Don't connect it to the spectrum router. Go through setup on it and program in your settings like normal. ONce its all setup, put it in access point mode and hardwire its WAN port into the spectrums LAN port.

Yeah, sorry for not putting this in the original description ( my bad ), but I had reset the R8000 a couple of times during the various setup processes with no effectual change to gaining access to the admin section.

What actually happens during setup when its been reset (provided you don't connect the R8000 to the spectrum router)?
What error do you get?
What are the led's on it doing?
